Titanum Ruhezeit

Hello

My titanum has moved for the first time. She began their existence as seeds in October 2012. Now after one and a half years got the shaft grooves, turned around and the blade was slowly yellow. Yesterday it read to pull out the light train. In their first growing season, the plant has only 2 sheets developed the first, about 30 cm high and the second 50 cm. I've dug out the tuber and was very surprised. That is 7 inches tall and good 100 g hard! I did not expected this size. My titanum was in the WG at 50-70% LF and 20 °-24 ° C in winter and up to 30 ° C in the summer (depending on the sunlight). No heating mat, no additional lighting. Fertilizer (liquid blue grain) a week with 50% of the recommended dosage in the summer and monthly fertilization with NPK fertilizer (no-name) in the winter months with the half dose.

It is now planned to bring the tuber to the method by Stefan in damp Sphagnum moss over the rest period. Now, I have no experience with the tubers of A. titanum. Mine already has a ca 2 cm high white drive. Must it be so? Or the tuber has finished your rest time of already and is driving again? (first character for indentation appeared before about 4-5 weeks) What is it recommended for an another procedure?

Hi, Ernst,.

with the new drive, it looks like she wanted to grow equal; When young titanum etc., that's not unusual that the rest period is short or fails.

Is sure to sink the tuber, interest method in light wet (dank) Sphagnum no error; There you can check easily if it continues to grow and makes new roots; pot you can later.

When the bud is already so big and also root approaches can be seen, you can pot them also directly.
Then you of course no longer have easy access to the control compared to Sphagnum.

A photo would be helpful...

Happy storing, Bernhard.

P.S.: the Amorphophallus soil/dormancy list / substrate / storage conditions / rest period and you know the culture guide Amorphophallus titanum probably...

Hello

which is nothing more to add. Bernhard said almost everything. If you store the tuber in MOSS, then must the MOSS really Groove easily be damp. And always remember the MOSS nachzufeuchten.

The tubers 1-3 rest months in average. There were also cases where the plant has been resting over 1 year.

Stephan

Thanks Bernhard and Stefan, I knew that you can help me :D ...

The tuber has 1 (one in words) root know and vital looks, the rest is Brown and drops when lightly touching, just like that of the Konjac tubers at the end of the growing season.

I'm trying photo put once I'm back home (we make here in the hospital, but 24-hour services with subsequent eight hour shift, can take so...)

http://www.IrfanView.de/

The program down load and install and thus shrink the image. I'm always 900 x 700. Because if you open the picture with the program and go top "Image" and then "Resize"

Then save. To the check how big the image is then, click with the right mouse button on the image and then go to "Details". There is then the size of the image.

Stephan

So in the picture you can see fresh roots. I would do it again in Earth, and easy pour.

And keep as long as the drive still not out of the Earth looks, the substrate also only slightly moist.
