Liebe Mitglieder des amorphophallus-forums.

Ich bringe euch heute traurige Nachricht. Unser Vater/Ehemann, hier bekannt als Bernhard bzw. Mr. Titanum ist leider vor einigen Monaten an Speiseröhrenkrebs verstorben. Bis jetzt waren wir zu beschäftigt, wollten es aber nun bekannt geben und über die Zukunft des Forums sprechen.

Grundlegend sehen wir zwei Optionen:

1) Falls sich eine oder mehrere Personen finden, die die Moderation und Pflege des Forums übernehmen wollen, sind wir gern bereit das Forum an diese zu übertragen. Wir müssten dann auch über die Kosten des Servers/Hosts sprechen. Aktuell ist der Server bei alfahosting betrieben und kostet inklusive Domains 131.76€ pro Jahr. Ein Transfer zu einem anderen Hostinganbieter ist euch natürlich freigestellt. Meines Wissens nach hat unser Vater die Kosten über den Verkauf von Knollen bei eBay finanziert, von denen einige von euch gespendet waren.

2) Falls sich niemand findet der die Führung hier übernehmen will, werden wir das Forum leider schließen müssen, da keiner von uns die Kapazitäten hat die Moderation fortzuführen.

Wir würden uns freuen wenn sich Interessenten bis zum 31. Januar bei uns melden, gerne hier, oder per Privatnachricht an den Account Onno (siehe der Kommentar unten) oder unter meiner email o.strowi@web.de.

Zuletzt wollte ich noch die folgenden Dinge sagen: Das Sammeln und Vermehren von Amorphophallus und verwandten Pflanzen war vermutlich das liebste Hobby meines Vaters und wir wollten euch allen in dieser Community danken, weil diese ihm über die Jahre viel Freude bereitet hat. Ein Teil der Sammlung unseres Vaters findet eine neue Heimat im Botanischen Garten von Hamburg.

Dear members of the amorphophallus-forum.

Today I unfortunately bring some sad news. Our father/husband, known here as Bernhard or Mr. Titanum sadly passed away from cancer a few months ago. Up to now we were too busy, but wanted to announce it here and discuss the future of the forum.

Generally speaking we see two possible options:

1) If someone or multiple people are willing to take over the moderation and curation of the forum, we are happy to transfer the forum over to them. In this case we also need to discuss who will cover the costs of the server/provider. Currently the server is hosted by alfahosting and cost 131.76 Euro for 1 year, including the domains. To my knowledge our father covered these costs by selling some tubers via ebay some of which were kindly donated by some of you.

2) If no one is willing and able to take over, we will be forced to close it as none of us have the capacities to take care of it.

Lastly I briefly wanted to say the following. The collection and propagation of amorphophallus and adjacent plants was perhaps my fathers dearest hobby and we wanted to thank all of you for the community on this forum, which gave him a lot of joy over the years. One part of his collection will find a new home at the botanical gardens of Hamburg.
