Kranke Paeoniifolius Knollen von Thailand

I have recently imported from Thailand 5 x 1kg Paeonofolius tubers. Unfortunately they were held up at Customs for 3 weeks and the growth tips have shivelled and died. Several of the growth points have gone mushy and rotten.

What can I do to save them?

Ich habe vor kurzem aus Thailand 5 x 1kg Paeonofolius Knollen importiert. Leider wurden sie an den Gewohnheiten für 3 Wochen gehalten und die Wachstumspitzen haben shivelled und starben. Mehrere der Wachstumpunkte sind breiartig und faul gegangen. Was kann ich tun, um sie zu speichern?

Hi Mother of Monsters,

sorry to hear that....

I guess all you can do is cut out the soft tissue till you see healthy tissue and let it dry.
Additionally you could dust the wound with charcoal powder and/or cinnamon powder (bacterizide/fungizide).

But another point: Why don't you just go to an Indian Grocery or supermarket and look for 'Suran'. I got some in London/Southall some years ago (but killed them due to too early potting, did not know enough about Amorphophallus in those days).

Dank für dieses - versucht ein wenig Chirurgie auf ihnen. Wille ist auch auf dem Blick heraus für Birnen in meinem lokalen indischen Nahrungsmittelspeicher!

Ps erhielt die Birnen vom eBay Händler Pfosten Thailand - also könnte ich mit jeder möglicher Zahl der Sorte oben beendet haben! Weiß nicht, bis sie blühen!

Thanks for this - will try a bit of surgery on them. Will also be on the look out for bulbs in my local Indian food store!

PS Got the bulbs from eBay trader Post Thailand - so I could have ended up with any number of species! Won't know until they flower!

Hi,

I think it's too late now to import some bulbs from Thailand, it's impossible to get good quality at this time of the year. Some thai sellers even dig up sprouting tubers and cut off the new foliage and roots.

Ja , das kann ich so bestätigen!
Sellers aus Fernost zeigen selbst auf ihren eigenen Werbefotos Tubers mit abgeschnittenen Herztrieben!

Ich selbst schätze eine derartig behandelte Knolle nicht zuletzt aus eigener Erfahrung als nicht weiterkultivierbar ein.
