Hi Ortwin,.

I had unfortunately no rule...
The plant is in a raised bed and I had to climb on a stool and me stretch to make E.g. this photo... index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3284

I guess that the pollen so to the 2 m inklucive flower stem measures... but I'll wrap a measuring stick for the next visit...

Happy viewing, Bernhard.

The spathe is grown not much more open than before, but still the spadix.
The gardeners no longer count on the blossoming - it runs, so on a weekend trip to Hanover... ;)

... wunderschön....

Gigantomanen,

the flower has started already yesterday around 17:30 to open; This is much later than at titnaum, which begins to open always to the midday or early afternoon. Perhaps it is because that the titanum hand simply more mass more must unfold, the titanum sheet is also more folded.

It is hard to decide whether a gigas flower or one is titanum beautiful...
OK, titanum is bigger, but I like the gigas with the long flower stem and the winning involucral bract much better... see for yourself:

Hi Bernard,.

Nice shots of the flower; I like me very well.
Above all seen A. gigas much rarer in bloom as A. titanum but more often maintained by the botanical gardens.

I was thinking yesterday shortly to come - but Gelnhausen is then simply too far away.

Did you perhaps coincidentally two shots in the distance?

Many greetings
Ortwin

Hi Ortwin,.

Unfortunately not...

Are you doing your 3-D templates or right/left frames out of the free hand? Or is that with any device, a tripod, where you can move the camera in the same plane to ca. 65 mm?

Curious, Bernhard.

Hi Bernard,.

I take the pictures mostly without a tripod, from the free hand; the "eye relief" will often vary. The closer I approach the smaller it becomes.
I make several images at different lateral distances. I take that which then most natural effect.
It can be also only 1-1,5cm real close-up distance. Interestingly, the brain always says it would be the 7cm,
and the pictures also so charged; It knows anything else.

I have even ever photographed in the Alpine mountains with a lateral distance of 500m. Because the brain always on 7cm converts you can see the mountains in real 3D, so really lying in a row with a valley between them and not like in reality just so in a row.
At large distances, suggests the brain only 3D, but it doesn't.
The images are the same at such great distances for both eyes. The brain only knows from experience that it must be different.

And now back to A. gigas back.
Do you know how hard the tuber was?

Many greetings
Ortwin

Hi Ortwin,.

Thank you for the explanation - but I understand it yet not quite... how avoid you because, the image changes, or the vertical between the pictures are different? Or must you edit then the pictures, to adjust the cut-out and to change eg the inclination?

Back to the gigas:
Unfortunately the curator didn't know the tuber was how heavy or large - for titanum not; document that now, but at the gigas halt There is no time probably at the many plants and the thin staff ceiling.
I don't know if possibly a photo when repotting was done, but I will ask the responsible gardener on occasion whether she remembers or whether there is yet a photograph or similar...

Many greetings,
Bernhard.

Hi Bernard,.

Yes, I must edit all 3D images; While there's software that helps, but without finishing it is not; Depending on the claim and source material, she can up to several hours of stevedores. In the section I need mostly about 1/2 - 1 hour.

Many greetings
Ortwin

The flowers had opened on Monday evening (27.03.2017) and the piston is twisted on the evening of the Fogetages!
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to ride the mountain garden days...
