With regard to the Division of the operculatus (and the atroviridis) I said honestly worry me made. Somewhere gabs times the statement that works well for growing long tubers. Leave to dry out only is important. 3 weeks at > 21 ° C (e. t. up to 25 ° C) were obviously sufficient. At the temperatures, probably half of the time would have been enough. The interface was already quite early perfectly dry and white-grey surface.

Today, I have harvested the first Konjac tuber. This was the tuber a plant standing on the windowsill, which has brought it from 30 g to 135 g in only 3 months (with fully deployed sheet). Addition, there are 5 primary Cormels together 21 g. Total weight more than quintupled. Quite remarkable for a plant on the windowsill, and in the brief period. I'm certainly pleased with the result.

Coming soon is the harvest of a further Konjac Corm. The plant is in Seramis and is still not so far with the pulling-in of the leaf. There is an herb from a tuber with about 10-12 g with somewhat shorter growing season than the first, since only later planted. I'm looking forward to the weight of the tubers.

Today it was then in a further Konjac, a Rosy grey Stem, so far: the two wilted leaves could easily pluck off himself. A 30 g heavy tuber came out with only 2 brood arms instead of 5 as in the last year. However, 3 more in approaches are recognizable. For that it was no longer enough probably because of the short growing season. For this, the two breeding nodules are slightly larger this year.

For same reason gabs then when the mother Corm also no increase compared to last year. Helped has certainly also that the second hand was very small and deformed. Speaking of deformity, in the only breeding nodules preserved last year was deformed also the 2 blade and the first of the mother tuber had only 2 instead of three arms.

I see today that my operculatus drives. A few days he will have to be patient but still, as I shared the tuber.
Meanwhile, check out the growing tip at the top of the tuber from the Earth. At the bottom (still not transplanted) is so far only a swollen bud.
The leaf is longer completely unfolded. Also looking at the bottom also the drive out of the Earth.

Hello Klaus,

I don't know how much oxalic acid or oxalate is in the berries, but I wouldn't make juice or jam out of it...

Has anyone ever observed whether any feathered cattle eat konjac or typhonium/saromatum berries?
My Indian Giant fruit stands are not disturbed by any animals - but it may also be because they are hidden under the large leaves....

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hello Bernard,
Years ago, in autumn, I had stored Sauromatum fruit stalls in the garage.
I wanted to try if the seeds germinate.
The next time in the garage, I saw that there were bald spots on the fruit stands.
Birds couldn't get into the garage.
I suppose mice (shrews or etc.) have tried to taste the berries...

Greeting Olvi

Hello Klaus,
I've just seen your crop,Great!!!
The oxalates should decompose by heating or drying, so the tubers are also used as food. So if you make jam and cook it properly, that should actually work. But maybe there is another chemist here who knows this more...
You would already have a buyer for a glass...

Hello everyone

somehow a lost year. The vast majority of tubers are only expelled very late, most of them only in June/July. Accordingly, the vegetation period was/is short. The first tubers I have now harvested have almost not increased at all. With the failures where the tubers in the pot are rotten, somehow disappointing. At least I had more success with a few sowings. So far at least...

I am only surprised by the high number of tubers that did not exercise at all. including some Arisaemas...

Let's just hope it gets better next year.

Greetings, Ralf

Yesterday I harvested an eburneus, the first tuber that even downsized.
I don't know how this collective "refusal to work" works with the Amorphophallus, especially since I cultivate indoor...

with me the konjac and sauromatum are still all in the leaf. For the time being, I'm not harvesting with anything, although I'm quite bubbly when I see that you're already reaping.

For me, it's always such a thing with the harvest. On the one hand, I am always super curious whether the plant in question has grown well. But when only a small tuber comes out, which has not grown at all or even backwards, the frustration prevails. That's why I'm always torn in autumn...

Greetings, Ralf

That's right, Michael. Have harvested today a typhonium "Lake Tana". The 2cm tuber has hardly grown, but it has formed a huge amount of daughter tubers. I can live with that quite well... and the big tuber I got from Sonja last year must have increased significantly. Now I'm curious when the Titanums move in, whether a beautiful tuber has formed.

Greetings, Ralf

A. muelleri

I harvested the Muelleri yesterday, after the yellowish white, not yet completely dried-up leaf with scrambled stems could easily be loosened. The result is a 160 g tuber. The tuber had roots scattered all over the tuber, although the main part of the roots were distributed around the leaf at the top.
