Arisaema fimbriatum, welches Substrat?

Hello everyone

today I have a small tuber of Arisaema get fimbriatum from England, a very unusual subtropical species.
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4633
This Arisaema is rarely offered. There are pictures of the flowers at aroid.org and otherwise.
Why I'm asking here: the literature says that Arisaema fimbriatum grows in Malaysia and Thailand in coastal regions, on limestone rocks, limestone columns, and on limestone.

It is my first Arisaema from such a region. And I wonder, how and with what ingredients I can here imitate a Wuchsort on limestone in a pot, with us. It is a completely different basis as for my other Arisaemas from North Asia, mostly growing in forests, we can imitate that quite well.
That would be very nice if someone of you could give me some advice to the substrate with or made of limestone!
Love greetings,
ADA

Hello ADA,.

I once had a similar problem, but with the well known Helicodicerus. In my research for suitable substrate I landed even in very hard soil, since this species probably grows very calcareous soils. Accordingly I have mixed something together, but the growth was not exhilarating. When I then I talk with a friend about it, he said that Helicodicerus occurs in very calcareous areas, but grows in humus-rich column and holes. Therefore I will try now again very permeable nutrient-rich substrate.

Many pitcher plants, which grow on very mineral soil in the mountains of Borneo and Sumatra, you can cultivate themselves very well in pure Sphagnum.

I'm thinking that is why a loose mixture of sand, and perhaps pumice gravel should fit. But ultimately helps only try. Dolomite lime or maybe some Cactus soil as aggregate worth perhaps still a consideration.

Greetings Ralf

Hello ADA,.
all types who come from regions with limestone floors, a drainage layer of limestone or marble Amorphophallus or orchids, get at me. That worked very well, and I think that it makes very little Unterschioed. It is vice versa important make sure if no limestone like a kind, then she will want to not grow with limestone drainage.
Love greetings
Michael

Thank you for your answers, Ralf and Michael, both to help me.
This is a good suggestion with the drainage layer, I'm doing this.
And then I ordered my cacti in mineral, Earth, thus I will make then, together with humosem substrate, a mix for the roots, this could work.

It is always exciting to maintain unknown plants from afar.

Love greetings,
ADA

Hello everyone

now, I put just a rare Arisaema ashore, also subtropical and rocks growing:
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4676
This is my bulb of Arisaema ghaticum.
Arisaema ghaticum in South India of West, grows on rocky hills, where she can are rooted in columns or depressions, where the substrate should be loamy.
Since she has a similarly difficult site like Arisaema fimbriatum, I ask a here with their substrate.
All other Arisaemas that I grow in forest floor, which is relatively easy to imitate.

For this both Arisaemas, A. fimbriatum and A. ghaticum, I have now the following substrates get me of my cacti dealer (HAAGE in Erfurt):
-Standard Cactus soil, with humosem share
-Mineral Cactus compost, blended from several mineral elements without humus
-Thuringian Löss loam to make loamy soil
-Diatomaceous earth 4-6 mm, to imitate a little rocky ground
-Travertine hard limestone, coarsely crushed, I loved it, that he had, so that I can imitate the limestone rocks.
Tomorrow it is then on the two tubers potting/input rocks, exciting, I find that this time,
love greetings,
ADA
