Arisaema Sauromatum ?

Hi Forum,

Does anyone know of another name, synonym, for the kind of Ariseama Sauromatum? Google gave me no answer. Well, I'm not a good Googler.

This provider on eBay has the seeds of the kind:
https://www.eBay.com/ITM/20-Arisaema-Sau... X6jUK: rk: 2: pf: 0
On a request, I got until now no answer.
Maybe just to order a portion of seeds, is Yes not more than 5 euros.:icon_shocked:

Greeting Olvi

This type is not BB´s... So far I know...
Looks as if BB´s in the direction of ciliatum or concinnum would go...
Have to look whether I can have something to do this. Would A. ciliatum var. liubaense

On 22.9.19 the plant(s) looked like this. Figure 1 is older.
All seeds have germinated.

This plant also had to fight with spider mites.
I still have no idea what that is. The leaves look a little bit like typhonium.
Probably too early to identify?

Hi Olvi,

I'm not an Arisaema connoisseur at all....
but I also think that the leaves should get a little bigger; then you may be able to see what that is....

If you compare your pictures with the picture in the ebay offer, it is clear that you have been sent something completely different.
I have an Ariesaema with such a leaf as in the ebay offer, but I just can't think of the species name...

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Summer 2020...

The leaf has now taken on a different shape and the tubers have become slightly larger, 50... 100%.
Depending on whether the tubers wintered cold or warm, the first leaves looked different.
Cold wintered tubers sprouted to 4 where and made larger plants than stored in the room. Tubers stored in the room needed 8 wo.
regards
Olvi

End of an interesting experiment...

The last tuber has now been received. A white shoot looked out of the pot but immediately began to rot. I cut away the soft upper part of the tip but that didn't help. When excavated, the tuber was swollen and foul-smelling. The other tubers didn't even start, they just rotted. I have no idea why.

I think it was the species Arisaema heterophyllum. On the Internet you can find pictures that are very similar to the picture in the eBay ad at that time. In the pictures, the leaf looks like a well-grown Sauromatum venosum. So easy to understand where the name Arisaema sauromatum comes from.

The experiment was so interesting that I will be looking for such a tuber in the autumn.

Hi Olvi,

but that's a pity - especially after 21 seeds had germinated.

Maybe someone here who is familiar with Arisaema has an explanation?

Unhappy, Bernhard.

In February I got two Arisaema herophyllum tubers and now the time has come, the typical Sauromatum venosum leaf has unfolded.

Both tubers were potted in a mixture of moss and billigerde at the end of March. It took a week, then the top looked out of the earth. The second tuber has not yet begun.

Now it gets exciting, does the plant make seeds or not? I bought Arisaema sauromatum seeds at that time.
Arisaema herophyllum makes brood tubers. I don't know if she also makes seeds.
So it will be interesting to see if the plants of the small brood tubers look similar to the Arisaema sauromatums in the pictures here in the thread.

The plant does not have a brown color on the leaves. This arises when the image is reduced, no idea why?
