Mein erster amorphophallus

Hello

My name is Max and grow normally carnivorous plant. Now the opportunity has himself but recently I offered to acquire a Amorphophallus Titanum seeds and I got slammed. And behold, today a first tips shows up, I was happy huge. :-D
Unfortunately I have no experience with this species and thought that I come here probably the best information. Currently, he plays in my terrarium under artificial light and increased humidity. The substrate is pure perlite. I wanted to know if that fits so. Should I fertilize actually? I hope you can help me!

Many greetings,
Max

Hello Max,.

welcome here at the Amorphophllus crazy... ;)

a small challenge is titanum not necessarily soooo hard, but as the first Amorphophallus.
There are also different origins and I have the feeling, that you are different difficult or -growing according to some - that is more intuitive...

On duration, perlite as inert and not pufferndes substrate is may not be as cheap, especially because it is so very wet immediately after pouring. There are possibly more favourable Seramis, pumice gravel or Vulcaponic.
Titanum cultivate many but also in peat-based substrates under admixture of 30 - 50% perlite.

Fertilize you have to quite a while sure until after the Blat is unfolded. the thick seed has quite a few nutrients for the first time to offer. But a light fertilization hurt soon after the Bltt is deployed does not. Well fed titanum have a really dark green leaves...

It is important in titanum, still, that the tuber in the rest period in light should remain damp substrate. a better expression might be damp. This prevents that dehydrates the tuber.
Next to it is titanum wärembedürftig, also in the rest period! There, but also ZImmertemperaturen rich... so at best 20 ° C...
(many species here: Amorphophallus soil/dormancy list / substrate / storage conditions / rest period )

Otherwise check this here:

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hello Max,.

Welcome to us!

Since you've taken a nice way to start! As you have probably already seen very much is also a matter of faith, or more specifically the perfect care depends on so many factors of your culture conditions, that there is no real silver bullet; but to read what is possible, are already good starting points.
By the way, I lost the most tubers in the rest period.

I'm rooting for friends!
Michael

Hi Bernard,.

most of the crude to be stored; so hewittii, titanum, lambii gigas etc. I guess I'm less attentive to what is the humidity, if no plant in the pot can be seen. I don't know, but surely so classic human error...

Now I'm trying to test out whether it is better to leave them in their substrate, and repot only when root growth begins again. You are with me in Sphagnum substrate. Few in Seramis.

Love greetings
Michael

Danke an alle!!

Hello

I look forward getting to have some useful information. :icon_idea2:
Thank you both! Then, I will still awhile in the perlite can leave him and even repot it in 1 to 2 weeks. Or should I do that as long as he has still fewer roots?
How is it with the roots? Cancel easily, and is it bad? I want to hate to lose him due to a hasty repotting. Could I mix in some dead Spaghnum the substrate so that it is airy and not so easily molds?

Thank you very much and greetings,
Max!

Hello Max,.

I would repot him also as soon as possible, root losses can be avoided especially in the fine roots hardly, if he has a few, the even of less power. Lost due to repot I have never seen an Amorpho. If roots break off this is not bad, since constantly grow.

Love greetings
Michael
