Amorphophallus Wachstum / Ernte 2017

Hello

I think it's always exciting to see the growth of tubers, so shows you your harvest photos, best with comparison to the previous year (weight and/or photo).

Today harvested: Amorphophallus operculatus BS38:

Planted at the 25.05.2017 with ~ 1-3g (scale very inaccurate)
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3834

Harvested at the 11.03.2018 with 31 g
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3835

Amorphophallus operculatus BS38 (right; left Amorphophalus maxwellii, who unfortunately at all)
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3836

There were three sheets in the growth period, the second was the smallest to the largest and the third.

Gruß,
Christian

Hello dryer lint.

This is so a nice report! Imitation... :icon_thumbs1:
I am for real photos, during the growing season and post-harvest mostly at my 'Indian giant', but you should do, as you show quiet often extends to other members.

Impressive, how the operculatus has grown! Give her a large and especially deep pot; the tuber could this year I guess the size to a blossoms reach.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

P.S.: The maxwellii is not grown or has to put the tuber only not in size and weight?
maxwelli (at least my favorite clone H.AM. 970) is actually very fast-growing and easily in culture...

Hi Bernard,.

I looked just once in my archive and the maxwelli tuber has grown more than I thought. But she has not exhausted its growth potential, the first sheet was sick (I think the substrate was too wet) and I had to cut it off shortly after the second pair of leaves has opened.

As far as my operculatus tuber, after I had written the post, I found someone who bought also tubers by friends, who grew even more in a year, really incredible on Facebook:

https://www.Facebook.com/groups/amorphop... 73077682722394 /.

Times very stupid asked, what happens if the Pan is not deep enough and I give below for example gravel in? Wächste the bulb then sideways, or just not at all, or...?

Greeting,
Christian

Christian

Hi Christian,.

There are no stupid questions but (almost) or... ;-)

operculatus seeks the way down... ;-)

I had nodules that have grown through a trigger hole in the pot and then including did a little knubblige tuber often. I could only cancel. This is actually not a problem unless the breakage be kept absolutely dry.

If you give only gravel in the pot, I could imagine that the tuber nevertheless continues to grow down through the gravel layer; should you try but just.

If the bulb is not a trigger hole or below a Gewebevliess is inserted, it can look like:
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3845 index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 3846

I can be fine as a case, but I had also already tubers, which apparently were injured in contact with the bottom of the pot and then away are rotten from the bottom up.
If I remember correctly, the tubers grew in the two pictures in a 12-liter Mason bucket (...die cheapest pots the size...; that bloom in these buckets...).

Total is operculatus but simply rel in the culture.
Long tubers can horizontally pot and hope that several sleeping eyes, which exist along the whole tuber, exorcise and several independent tubers emerge.
People who like it more radically: long tubers into pieces cut and dry very well let...

Happy growing, Bernhard

I'm trying the horizontal potting in any event this year. And an L-shaped tuber is rather than one is the 50 cm straight to me. I will not really begin to use drain pipes, like many in the FB group as a pot.:D

Hi Christian and Bernhard,.

operculatus - she is Bernhard very well! -This winter is not indented, so I can say still nix to the tuber, but with other tubers that grow in the depth, can be hardly avoided drain pipes, so E.g. laoticus. When she became too long for the pot, she has simply pushed the entire Earth and root ball from the pot, what has hurt her but; There's a picture of it in the endless expanse of the forum somewhere.
