Überfordert mit John Tan

Hello dear Amorphophallus - friends

as some may know I have bought Tan tuber on eBay before recently a John. Actually I didn't really what I'm getting myself into. :icon_eek:

Now have I smart read me here in the Forum :icon_ubergeek: - The tuber is still not here arrived with me, and I think that it was a mistake to buy the great tuber and'm seriously am considering prefer to give this Amorphophallus tuber in experienced hands and possibly against easier ways to share.

I would find it too bad if she breaks down at me once because so much work and passion has been put this rare plant in the propagation. :icon_stock1:

But I don't know if it does the tuber as well at current temperatures again continue to be sent.

I have prepared everything here so far. I have designed a plastic terrarium with damp Spagnum Moss. A heating pad, a thermometer and a Thermoregulators are provided as well, I think I am well equipped for short term storage.

I hold above all fear that the bulb could push in the autumn / winter. :icon_shocked:

Because I work in a nursery I a greenhouse available though, but this is heated only in November / December, which most of the time the temperatures are more likely I cool as 15 ° C guess 20 ° C in the winter and in the spring not / summer also not constant < /. C24 > :icon_explode:

I thought already that I'm a plant lamp - previously I had a sodium - mercury lamp or similar - and in-room cultivate, however I live in a shared apartment - and have only a small room and the cost of electricity would probably also to h och and also that is pretty freaky when I build such a plant lamp in the small room.

And I wanted to come but not more so freaky :icon_irre:

Well, anyway, I'll leave the tuber probably someone who has the better conditions and better knows :icon_frown:

Greetings Christoph

Hello Christopher,

just briefly... John Tan is easier than the most titanum genotypes and quite suitable for the living room.
I think you should tackle the more relaxed and quietly try to cultivate that.
I write something tomorrow and do have the one or the other image...

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hello Christopher,

Since this year I got a John commendably Tan; in Sphagnum grows now excellent and easily in the living room, through more accurate by Bernhard I am also curious.
By the way: at the latest when an amorphus blooms come the "freaky" no longer around... but what the heck.

Love greetings
Michael

Hello Christopher,

I have even more John Tan; the fact that course in crossing the variabilis, is easier to keep not bad as one thinks and takes a little care mistake. Combined with moisture she don't like constantly low temperatures, since she fault quite quickly. At lower temperatures, mainly the moisture is the problem.
I think they in the winter garden at winter temperatures to 18°, which are located in very cold nights, sometimes including; but in an average of 18°. This works very well. Also the high temperatures in the summer, sometimes over 40 °, are no problem.
I held this year also outside them in the garden; She was partial shade. Also it has tolerated it. I have posted them only too late again - the end of September-, because the blade was damaged. Since I must look now looks like the tuber.

I would recommend friends just try it, maybe it's working Yes.

Many greetings
Ortwin

Okay, that sounds all very good at what I hear from you. Then I will maybe try it. I was glad that you answered so quickly and reported by your experiences. I think I need to see more relaxed the whole.

@ Michael: Yes, I had this year already the flower of a Typhonium venosum – breathtaking experience - the whole room and the hallway having old urine smell :icon_respekt:

@Ortwin: I keep friends the fingers crossed, that there is all right with the tuber :icon_gott: But yet so sounds, that John wake-up can put so much Tan and is not so difficult... I would have thought

Thank you very much and greetings

Christoph
