Titanum erstmals auch in Bochum!

Hello everyone

full of joy we can announce that the Botanical Garden of Bochum its first Amorphophallus titanum bloom! The tuber, that weighs about 30 kg, comes to bloom in about 10 days. This afternoon, the inflorescence had a height of 125cm. We'll keep you up to date.

We got the plant from the Palmengarten Frankfurt 2013, because she had about 3 kg. It was propagated in Frankfurt in 2007 or in 2008 by a leaf cutting.
She was 22 ° C and high humidity to the growing season in the tropical House, at least, fertilized it was liquid with Hakophos, about 0.2% about once a week.

The substrate is a recipe of the botanical gardens of Bonn. We now know it not from the head, but it is quite simple. Many standard soil pot substrate, a certain amount of sand and pumice... nothing special

Our site is quite unflexzibel, because we must give notice for any change in any IT-types at the University. The Press Office of the University was already there, I hope it will be next week in the news of the uni page. We'll keep you posted but here.
We will have @AGM to the main flower open until midnight, only the date is just uncertain. A few days before it is already worth a visit, as we are open until 20: 00

Hello guys,

"Please do not pour" take the shield please not too seriously, because I have somewhere once read/heard that a titanum bloom; unfolds not because of lack of water It needs probably some root pressure, so that the blade can unfold and when it is unfolded, you will lose even more water. Doubtful whether it can be supplied from the Corm.
Unfortunately, I don't know if ever anyone has looked, whether one titanum with flower bud even while she pushes the bud, makes roots; If so, she need sure some water...

The shield serves that the weekend there "doesn't it". The honey has roots. But still a good note, thank you, we read the body of the Publikationl and because that is so amazingly watering a day which flower is important even if the substrate is moist.

Size today: 233cm! A murder debris!
The flower is expected for the weekend, the plant can the 08.09 until Sunday visited the 10.09 in the Botanical Garden from 9 pm 11 pm Friday. The small entrance fee of €3 will benefit the garden
