Amorphophallus Licht-Bedürfnisse / Sonnenlicht-Toleranz Erfahrungen

Hello

I would love to read about your experiences, what types are as light and which direct sunlight to tolerate or even like, or which react very sensitively.

There are general rules, for example species of a particular region that have similar needs (E.g. Thailand = Penumbra)?

My tubers sprout all, many species of which I had never had.
I want to avoid that they burn themselves on the sunlight, but also that they unnecessarily to light stretching, due to a too dark site.
And of course, the space is tight and you want to populate both bright and dark areas with appropriate plants.;)

Here are my kinds of origin:

A. gallaensis (Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya)
A. impressus (Tanzania, Malawi)
A. mossambicensis (Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia)

A. napalensis (Bhutan, Nepal and Sikkim)
A. bulbifer (India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal)
A. yuloensis (China [Yunnan])
A. albus (China [Yunnan])

A. asterostigmatus (Thailand, LOP Buri)
A. fuscus (Northern Thailand)
A. josefbogneri (Thailand)
A. maxwellii (Thailand, Kanchanaburi province)
A. operculatus (Thailand)
A. myosuroides (Laos)
A. ferruginosus (Laos)
A. natolii (Palawan, Philippines)

But details of other kinds are of course also welcome.

Greeting,
Christian

Hi Christian,.

I care my Amorphophallus species mostly in the winter garden - no matter from which region of the world they come also. The winter garden receives full sun in the summer months from 2 o'clock in the afternoon and then powerful heats up; 43°-45 ° are not uncommon then. I have seen so far, that caused great damage to the leaves. Her slipper then that afternoon when it gets too hot and the roots do not comply with the water, they build up but then again at night. Only when it was still hot light emerged until severe burns on the leaves.

Your species listed I think much of the summer outdoors, from end of may / beginning of June (napalensis, bulbifer, yuloensis, fuscus, maxwellii ferruginosus and some others). Here, it can happen that there Burns, if I just put the already-driven plants in the Sun.
You come with me for a week in the shadows, then 1 week in the Penumbra and then the most tolerated even full Sun booth.
However, it is the increase of tubers in the garden not as good as in the winter garden.

Also, to answer your question, I take no great regard for the lighting conditions that get the plants may be in their home country - regardless of what kind it also - and drove well. also with species that are considered more difficult such as A.hewittii or possibly A.gigas. Most have contacted the light conditions but a fairly large tolerance.

Many greetings
Ortwin
