Amorphophallus konjak bestäubt und nun?

Hi, I have tried to my 5 Amorphophallus pollinate flowers of my 4 tubers (2 different types). And when a bulb it worked apparently with two flowers (pictures will follow later) :icon_thumbs1: unfortunately that is a larger Corm of dear wärs I have calculated it would have worked out at one of the smaller tubers. But who are all wilting become without the pollination worked :icon_sad: after it is my first powdered flower what do I now have? You can leave them without water and earth so the tuber must be potted up?

Hello

Since I always very early pot my tubers, my flowering are always getopft. The substrate is not cast then but, may but still something that reduces the dehydration of the tuber.
All cases a pan protects the Corm from damage. Konjac think I you can handle it as you prefer; Otherwise just wait wait wait...
Love greetings
Michael

Hello Seiti,.

an acquaintance who has dusted many Amorphophallusarten and more cultivated, recommends pot and keep minimal moist...

Happy growing, Bernhard.

OK thank you, :icon_thumbs1: then it is a potted in soil. Currently it is in dry sand so that it will not fall over.

Tuber growth and leaf shoots is I guess any place this year or? And how it looks with roots? Then I would save me the cream cheese in a large pot and would choose such a pot where the tuber has just place

I can't unfortunately friends, since I have no experience with it...
A pot in the tuber as straight fit, would be too small; It is also possibly difficult to keep then lightly wet the substrate.
But you still can repot if it should be necessary.

You can set from time to time, Yes, a photo of the fruit stand Veileicht...

Happy fruiting, Bernhard.

I have personally only experience with a Sauromatum venosum 'Indian giant'. Which I had with the other transplanted when the bloom began to be wilting and in the garden. Only later I realized that the flower has been fertilized. It has nevertheless made a sheet and stood throughout the summer in the garden. In the autumn, the seeds were then ready.

I don't know whether the Amorphos make also a hand near the seed stand.

Andreas

initially I thought it would have one other flower in a (normal konjac) lobed, because the berries have grown slightly, but soon after I've seen the pollination that the stalk is very much, so I cut off the abgeblüte flower, in the hope that so the flower style moves faster and thus drives the blade earlier. so the cut off was then in a bucket and I didn't have to throw it on the compost, yesterday I looked at the bucket and couldn't believe my eyes, the berries are grown, although it is cut off and the berries even bigger even as of the two seed stands of other Knolle(eine Shredded Umbrella bzw oder eine Pale Petiole keine Ahnung was von beiden die sehe ja ziemlich gleich aus).

I have the seeds stand now in a glass of water set, much hope I not be ripe, but it is so worth a try. think next time I might cut off with the wait it was too hasty, but after the shaft most dry muinat I thought there is nothing more.

In the spring I had 5 Konjak's most bloom. Even though I only use a clone I tried a pollination. That worked! Now, I have four more or less well developed seed pods. When the tubers of the fruit stands have shown roots I have potted the tubers with fruit stand. I have poured the Earth at temperatures near or above 20 degrees. Look through has revealed that root growth is very good. Currently, leaf buds sprouting next to the flower stems. Practically at the same time as the tuber of the not fertilized flower drives out.

Thank you!
Just goes to show what can happen if you join a forum.
I got given a small pot about 10 years ago with a small leaflets in it. No names - no instructions. "Makes offshoot but sometimes" - hm. I've leave the pot for 3 years in the greenhouse. Sometimes grew a sheet - sometimes it broke. Then I got tired of the thing. But a plant to throw away without knowing their name doesn't. So I searched and found this forum. Read after a few days I decided simply to follow the above tips and instructions. Do not throw away the plantlet, but better to maintain. I've read on everything I know about Amorphophallus me from this forum. Without this forum I have no Konjak's.
But to the topic: in the follow-up to the ripe berries, I feel very unsafe. The berries as a whole are stored until the seed or seeds is immediately removed and stored as naked seeds to sowing? How long - if any - the seeds stored, and for what conditions? Only one thing is certain - is seeded!
Hmmm - and then I plant's Germany with Konjac

Greetings Klaus

Hi Klaus,
If the seeds are ripe, then remove the pulp and preferably fresh sprout, that is sphagnum or other moist medium, but regular cottage cheese in earth should work just as well at Konjaks.
Good luck
Michael

Klaus, look here:

http://Amorphophallus.info/

There is a summary of the sowing and treatment of seeds.

I would immediately release the seeds from the pulp as this can otherwise mouldy. Or it dries as a raisin and is then difficult to remove the seeds.
While you should wear gloves, the berry juice stains and may cause skin irritation.

A professional has explained to me that African species usually immediately germinate, Asian (including konjac belongs) in turn sometimes months rest until something going on. In both cases, I would place the seeds on moist Sphagnum or perlite and light cover (so that they do not dry out). Then leave and only plant, if growth is visible. In between regular air and inspect, it must mouldy somewhat unattended in no case / rotten.

Here are a few photos:

... bitte öfter solch leendinge Beiträge....

Hello in the round,

a consequence of such contributions is the moderator... ;)

Seriously: I think about often, how to get some more 'life' (contributions, questions, status report, pictures...) in the Forum. But since you can force probably nothing, especially since much is already written...

So beautiful that even such a thread developed :icon_thumbs1:

@ Klaus: I'm glad that you found the Forum (how will it matter??) and that the small OWL reports on its successful culture here...

Happy growing everyone,.
Bernhard.

Hi Bernard,.

I've seen in the last few years, some forums come and go. My personal experience is that a certain minimum number of members needed to survive. If you out will not babbling, just each individual has to report what causes that sometimes some time nothing new will be posted only a certain amount. Which in turn causes the members of course less often look in the Forum, if new there, which may ultimately cause a forum to asleep. But I think that this forum is large enough, if it's also in the meantime quite quiet.

I have also made the experience that's positively affect, if members know each other personally. I was active in for many years a forum for US-cars, and there were regular meetings of the members. Here with us in the West and in the South approximately every 2 months in the North and East Germany's rare. Green24 also have regular group meetings.

These meetings cause, that within the framework of the preparation and also follow-up with photos us so, is more activity in the Forum. However, I think that our forum for this is too small. The number of active users is probably under 50, if not even more in the range of 30. It's a very special theme.

Many, I call it time 'Sections' are therefore now migrated to Facebook, be it the old Yahoo groups, the mailing lists, or even the small forums. This has the advantage that the now 2 billion user are Yes eh more or less daily as active, regularly to see all their groups, and also provide activity.

But just take the IAS as an example. There is Yes the IAS quasi Forum, but since roughly as many articles have been written this year, as in the FB IAS group in the last 48 hours. And in the Aroid Group on FB are the most expertise on the road, whether Alan Galloway, Peter Boyce, Björn by Rareplants Ben Candlin, our Indonesian friends, etc., There are approximately 3000 members and usually you get a competent response within one day. Alan seems each einzlene Aroid flowers from his garden there to publish, Peter all of his paper, etc.

But I have an idea. If it is technically feasible, it would be a viable option if you are informed by email of new posts could be, and not only when it has received a response to our own contribution. Then the active users would know immediately that there is something new, and it would give faster responses.

Greeting
Andreas

Good day
Many thanks to you for your help
I am - like dryer lint stimulated on the specified link smart made. I think that I understand the totality of the information. However, I am not entirely happy. Unfortunately I have only a temperate cold greenhouse. In other words: In the summer, open doors and Windows. In the winter, so heated that the minimum temperature not less than 5 degrees Celsius (image). That's enough for overwintering my Konjak's, but certainly not for seed budding from. I immediately looked after the maturity of the seed I'm with skating up the seedlings sure in the area fall / winter. Since I can not however, provide the necessary heat. Fortunately, I've gotten the necessary information but in time of you and can work alone on a way out. So again thank you!

Bernhard's question:
At some point, I have just looked at my questionable plantlets and entered what I saw on Mister Google in the search. Since information of Amorphophallus titanum came almost immediately. When I only a few weeks previously stood in the Willhelma in Stuttgart amazement before a sheet with the same marking, I got dry mouth. My greenhouse has the dimensions 6 x 3.5 m with a maximum height of 3.5 metres. And my winter garden is only slightly larger. A Titanum would lift off the roof and move the walls. But I had a name. So back to Google. And I landed here on the input of Amorphophallus. Luckily! Because browsing this forum I realized quickly that I continue could maintain my plant without having to build. What I did.

PS. see 600 tubers are all image ausgepflanz (Auschwitz) and largely grow. Now twice as many seeds are added - conservatively estimated - - maybe I have build it!
Greeting
Klaus

Hello of Andreas,

I Stephan write to again, whether the forum software allows to a notification about new posts.
That would certainly be a good thing...

VG, Bernhard.

P.S.: I can only agree with what you write to the forums and FB, but my distaste for Mr Zuckerberg is still too big...
Actually I'd for a few weeks at (so far so 3) gate Razali at the FB group in, so that I have a small impression.
Certainly very interesting, but often also not so earth-shattering, so the message flood there would me maybe even too much long term...

Hi Klaus,

that the plant in the Willhelma has that the spit remained away friends, yes a fabulous effect is so impressed with you! ;-)
But quite understandably...

Your collection of konjac tubers is so impressive and scary...
I'm afraid you need to create a compost heap but friends, so hard it is.

If the many konjac fall into the wrong hands, it can also still have unforeseen consequences, as it is a a value exceeding one ebay provider is described here in the Forum (BarChart / existing discussion).

Nevertheless, enjoy the Stinkern wishes
Bernhard.
