in just 3 years just to flower???
Then I am doing wrong, because I have H. m. already much longer...
Can you write some Nähres to the culture?
Pot, substrate, fertilization, location, season, etc...???
Hi Bernard,.
I looked it up, it's true. I'm always records for my plants, there were card, when then the PC took some decades ago in our lives, you could attach there beautiful databases, what is also fun for me.
So, my records and the corresponding documents say that I the small bulb of Helicodiceros muscivorus actually in winter 2010/2011 from England got.
Before she came, I made me acquainted, because I always like to offer a substrate and an environment the plants, that corresponds to their home base. I got so into experience, that Helicodiceros muscivorus grows on rocks, in bird colonies. Pretty sparse site, and much bird droppings, this eggs and dead chicks has the trappings, which leads to a dense population of Blowflies and friends - if you want to see it so Darwinian view, lay this dead horse Habitus to the Helicodiceros therefore.
I found interesting but the information that there is a high proportion of limestone and Löss in the substrate there. At a dealer of Cactus, I then found a substrate with limestone and Löss, which is actually intended for cacti that grow in extreme locations and have a beet root. Of which I have ordered me then several bags. In addition, I had read that the Helicodiceros necessarily need a large pot – so I added a clay pot with 30 cm diameter and height, and mixed a substrate loamy soil of the garden and the limestone and Löss substrate of sand, and deeply planted the small bulb a few centimeters.
In the summer of 2011, there was the then first 3-4 cm long leaves, moved the plant to winter there. Early 2012 I wanted to know then but, as it stands, and looked it up. To do this I had to dig long, and I'm amazed: the tuber had himself up completely to the bottom of the pot pulled down - so the big pots! From late summer 2012 there leaves again, this time bigger, the same in 2013 and in 2014 then the first bloom. In 2015 it had exposed, and then 2016 two flowers. At the time she drive out again, but only with a small leaflets. Maybe she does always a year?
In any case, I think some time, I should put them up in a bigger pot. Early January, I will again order me these cacti soil with limestone and Löss, and sometime even gently tilt my plant out of the pot and transplanted. Clearly, this is documented.
At the end, I show you another photo that I like very much, it shows the flower in the rear view, which looks but really elegant.
