Überwinterung Colocasia, Xanthosoma und Alocasia

Have you ever tried to over-winter these plants dry? I got through to cultivated my so far, but this year I have a space problem. Therefore I would like to as tubers overwinter. So I also bought them a few years ago.

I find but no corresponding info whether I think it is completely dry, or rather slightly damp and to initiate such as the rest is. Let it dry out? Cut the leaves?

I hope someone here can help me.

Greeting
Andreas

So I überwintere my alocasien as indoor plants and let them green.
I have no experience with alocasien which overwinters as a tuber.
Heard that are very difficult to the re-emerging.

I tried Colocasien times to overwinter as tubers, but mouldy and rot too quickly.

Xanthosomas überwintere also like the alocasien

What alocasia types do you have?
The odora you can light frost out let and the leaves cut off.

Let me because the frost sheets destroy then you can overwinter them as tubers even though I'm not sure whether xanthosomas and frost colocasien survive.

Hello of Andreas,

I had long ago once a Xathosomas violaceum and have winters that, if I remember correctly, without substrate in the basement - so like E.g. Dahlias...
My Jack's giant have I cut off the leaves due to lack of space in the winter garden a few days ago and put the pot in the basement; I am assuming that she survive the winter over there, but this is possibly too trusting in what foussi writes.
If I remember, but, as taro in semi-transparent is offered, a dry storage for Colocasia should be actually possible.

I once again when a friend ask, by which I mean Jack's giant... got

Happy storing, Bernhard.

Empfehlung für die Überwinterung von Jack's Giant

Here the answer of my friend of plants:

"Large, thick tubers use a dry hibernation probably, but I don't feel bad about it. Have tubers all too often lost due to desiccation.
I would put the limit at the point where the plants have permanent roots. That is when Jack's giant. I do it just like you, cut off the leaves and überwintere everything in the pot. The residual moisture ranges over the winter. But usually, expel the cut stems in the basement and aphids. I cut again, it causes stress the plants though, but probably, but less as a very dry winter with total loss of root. Anyway, you start in the spring with water, light, heat, and fertilizer then quickly.
Nodules that lose their roots in winter anyway like Sauromatum or Amorphophallus can be stored rather dry without substrate. But I don't like to do that. Especially small tubers are dried up so often me."

Happy storing, Bernhard.

Thank you for the instructions.

If I summarize it, that leaves means cut and dry winter in the substrate. I will try again and tell you next year. As a precaution, I cultivate a copy each type in green, then I at least no total loss.

To the question according to the types, if none is received in the summer, I have this. Little bit cluttered. Got off copies just in my inventory list.

I have a question to Jan and Timo. What initiates her in Bochum the hibernation? Let dry you out the substrate or cut off the leaves?

Greeting
Andreas

First is no longer cast, if the Earth is always dry the leaves are then also soon yellow and can be cut off
