Amorphophallus albus 'Silver Dragon'

A. albus 'Silver Dragon'

Hi Lei,.

Since one Yes can't answer at the descriptions, a reply here...

The gardeners believe that a virus transmitted defect is, I believe speculative äüßerst.

The variegation is actually looks like a typical chlorophyll defective mutant.
To clarify that, you should follow closely whether the defect will only vegetatively, so "spread beyond breeding arms from albus," or whether in green plants develop it for aphid infestation or similar.
At the appearance, I would tap on the former.

However, speaks, of course, you now found the feature to further away standing crops.
Can you rule out whether these new plants with the characteristic go back not to brood arms of previously variegated plants?

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hi Lei,.

I have same color defect in one of my A. dactylifer. This has occurred spontaneously. I can exclude pests.

You can poorly identify exactly the white spots on your images because they are very small.

I did leaf cuttings to see whether this effect is transferred. Also, I'm curious to see if this effect occurs again in the next year. I can not call a result - the cuttings have just formed roots.

I would clarify once before a naming, whether this color defect, a. konjac Shattered glass, is stable and also to transmit to future generations. If this took is not the case, a new name is my opinion no good.

Ortwin

Chimera's friends,

Stability, as far as I know, is relative at least at 'Shattered Glass'; the expression and above all sharing the variegation on the primary Cormels are, as far as I know quite variable.

@ Rajiv: keep us time posted, what is your dactylifer seedlings to... :icon_thumbs1:

Happy propagating, Bernhard.

Hello, a virus could be possible. It could be but also spotane mutation / spontaneous variegation, should also exist. But strange that it's is equal to 2 plants appeared for the first time.
In addition to spontaneous mutations (without external cause that triggers the mutation), there are still
Induced mutations are produced mutations by mutagens (mutation-inducing substances or radiation). (from Wikipedia)

could anything be enters the water/Earth that pan insurance could have raised that with you?

In terms of virus, you can somewhere send not the parts of the plant and test for virus attack? A. long have suspected konjak 'Shattered Glass' a Virusbefallene might be A.konjak. Anyone know whether the variety has been tested even viruses? The this is not same as kinda weird the variegation of Cormels of the mother plant, but the leaves of vegetatively propagated plants very variable with a more or less strong are pan insurance. Normally, yes vegetatively propagated plants are always identiisch with the mother plant.

If it is a virus you have to watch something that he does not transfer to other plants, (pay attention to pest infestation, disinfect cutting tools)
whether you grow a Virusbefallene plant or destroyed remains up to everyone, in part Virusbefallene are bred indeed plants, as they have optically often beautiful variegated leaves, I even own E.g. a variegated beautiful Mallow, Abutilon megapotamicum variegatum whose beautiful hand coloring is caused by a virus. It was caused by a virus the variegation I brought only after sales experience. So far my second beautiful mauve variety will be spared even though they are overwintered in the same room as the Virusbefallene Saeed Malve and there occasionally pests occur by the virus.

A virus test in the plant health service costs EUR 125. Since one must consider then whether this information is so important to one.

Greeting
Andreas
