Knolle nach Blüte schrumpelig

Hello

one of my T. venosum has just flourished. The tuber was quite large, and the flower had a height of 75 cm. Now, the bulb through the flower is very emaciated, butt and a lot easier. -Knolle now my second equally large t. venosumpushes even a flower bud. I'm now not so keen on the flower, me is more important that the plant is maintained to me. Hence my question: is it useful to remove the flower bud to save the tuber, or does no harm the shrink and the weight loss of the plant?
So far my t. venosumhave tubers lost never so much volume.

Greetings
Alex

Hello
You can try yes whether it makes a big difference to cut off the bud. Normally the majority of weight loss should only be water.

Actually there really not much harm in the tuber if she has.
If you use them and leaves and in the autumn moves then kan the Corm be greater than it was before.
Don't worry

zwei Blütenknospen

Hello

I am now but decided the flower bud to cut off, alone to a comparison with regard to leaf development and the growth of the tuber to the second, flowered from Corm.
Doing something odd occurred to me: the tuber had not only a large flower bud, but also a second, smaller directly next. I did two pictures:

The rest of the cut flower bud, left the second flower bud this image shows the tuber, right the leaf bud in the middle.

Here is still a picture of the second flower bud cut off:

In hindsight, now it annoyed me that I've removed the flower buds, have been interested it very like the second flower buds developed.

Is it often the case that a second flower bud develops? I have never watched.

Greetings
Alex

Hi Alex,

Absolutely not the normal case.
I heard only once earlier from a tuber with two flowers, this was an 8 kg of tuber. How big is your bulb?

IG mit zwei Blüten.

Hello Alex

Now, for the first time, I have a tuber with two flowers (post #5).

The bulb was in the pot isn't big. 1710 g, Ø16 cm.
The left bud came first. Both flowers were equal; Length approx. 65 cm.
The left has flourished first, 5 days later the second flower has opened.

Can caused be by stress?
Looks like the plant would have had no power to make the first flower and done so a second.
The pot waited long in the right dark garage warmer weather.

As the flower stem due to lack of light is rather fast and therefore the stability which was missing. I had this year in the spring at my normal ulcers also. Because the flower is also upset and had to be carefully set up and supported a few days.
