Wiederverwendung von Substrat

Hi, what are you doing with the's substrate? I've mixed me my substrate every year new and disposed of the old about compost, now amounts will make some volume problems however. I would like to work on over the winter the substrate, but to multiply any pathogens concern or simply to generate a high salinity by fertilizer residues. What does your V.G. Matthias

Hi,.

I gave it to always been able for the garden, as the substrate was well before fertilized this is not bad for the garden, germs there also not such a play important role. But this year I mixed up for the first time with perlite, and many want to "white Kharis" not necessarily in the Garden have... Let's see.

I use it more in the garden. My garden soil consists almost only of clay and gravel. Since a little before fertilised soil's good.

I am somewhat differently. To get the substrate and root residues from all of the Amorphophallus pots from the previous year, in the following year konjacs. Now a part of the substrate should be been reused three times already. Until now no salt damage... All other types and tubers but get fresh substrate.
Is also a question of money, I need about 500 liters for the konjacs alone this year substrate :icon_confusednew:

i too use fresh potting mix with new potting up of corms when they come out of dormancy..
and with that last seasons potting mix..i add to my compost, add to my flower/tropical plant beds..
i add a lot of composted manure each fall..and spade it in..i just spade in the amorphophallus potting mix into
all of this.. my potting mix for my amorphs uses about 20% pumice..so it adds some nice drainage to all my plant beds

I put the used substrate in the garden beds and rake it up, not only that of the nodules, but everything what in the autumn on the balcony and terrace anfäält...auch of the perlite and Kokohum is good for the loamy Booden!
This year I have tubs in a large bucket collect most of the Konjac and 4 weeks ago my whole Topinampurknollen from the flower beds dug out, keep only a portion and placed on the named bucket, let's see how you like it...
the rest was gefuttert...also the Jerusalem artichoke not from the substrate :icon_lachtot:
