Hello of PolarExpress,

Do you know by chance whether the Leipzig have other Amorphophallusarten in their collection?

Happy growing, Anita.

Hi, thanks for the show. I've seen the news report on television about it. Unfortunately Leipzig is something too far away me.

Leipzig was me then but not too far...;)
and well 2 hours ride have paid off well.
Preferably I'd Yes yesterday evening, because the flowers always best look on the first night, as the spathe is then the most open.
The day after the flowering, they again closes then then in the second night back to but not as far as the first night open.
Anyway...

Happy viewing, Bernhard.

Size 197 cm (the flower, not the visitor :icon_winkgrin: )

Oh, Yes, it is same tuber that was dusted 5 years ago and developed 104 seeds.
Before this year's flowering the bulb had a weight of "only" 14 kg, which is why the staff of the garden also surprised what, that there was a flower.
Some concern to gardeners but, as they rake with a weight loss of approximately 6 kg and they don't know whether the Kolle makes even a sheet - without having the experience, however I think the further development that should remain enough tuberous material for a Neuastrieb.

A gardener has allowed then have a look in the greenhouse I, where the other titanum are maintained.
The problem child is to see here: index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 1399 ø 35 cm!
The tuber had soft spots and it is believed a nematode infestation, which is why the soft/rotten bodies were cut out and then the whole bulb had been eingestäiubt with charcoal powder.

What surprised me somewhat, was the more mineral substrate, in which lay the tuber.

Hi Bernard,.

great pictures from Leipzig. Beautiful to look at as the flower and you Thanksgivings on. I think that was one of your great highlights 2013. Now it is tilted sadly. Schaaade. Why does it say in such a tiny pot? How do I me because imagine the nematode infestation? Where are beggars from? May it be, that is the damaged bulb in so a sandy substrate, it is better ventilated and not increase the mold set? Questions about questions, but we have Yes our great forum and the related professionals

Regards Sophie (Sookie)

PS: "your" IG has 3 leaves a 75cm

Hi Sophie,.
Hello Stephen,.

well, I've frowned also, when I saw the tuber in the sandy substrate. Unfortunately I can not talk with the for the titanum responsible gardener.
But the dry storage for cutting away the rotten authorities is understandable.
This of course contradicts the recommendation titanum and co. in the rest period in slightly moist substrate (or Sphagnum) to store and certainly not for a long time so well.

Where are the nematodes?
I don't know whether the lazy bodies really on nematodes zurückkgehen, which ensure easy there, where many plants in a confined space are cultivated.
But sometimes I have the impression that nematodes in Amorpoohallus for each Faulsetell must serve so as chlorosis are attributed to viruses in other plants, if you don't really know the cause.
But nematodes are, if there are really a big problem, because as far as I know it, only a nematicide for use in Rosenkuturen (outdoor) is approved in Germany ( http://www.bvl.bund.de/SharedDocs/Downlo...html?nn=1798082 , http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fosthiazat#Verwendung ).
Therefore the recommendation very pay attention to hygiene and to cut away the infected tissue in the case.

The size of the pot is sufficient for a 14-kg bulb, which will have diameter probably to about 30 cm, safe for the flower. for the advanced culture, to reach the target of ordentliuches Knollenwachtum, he is perhaps really quite small. But maybe they even repot the tuber it or just include that the bulb through the flower properly shrinks and the pot is then sufficient.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

told him that he has a Konjac. I even nöchte even no Titanum, because I like the Aronstäbe I
