Thanks

Thanks for your info Peter, Stinkmorchel, and Shreck.

Now to you Peter, you're me Yes a Scamp. But I leave nothing unturned and will report on the fragrance experience for my visitors. Is repeatedly said > cooler place. How many degrees is Celsius the tuber / flower look? My 2 flower has gone on today. I am still in a picture. What occurs to me very clearly, the spadix is quite rundwie "Ball writing part". He was totally flat and wide like a sword at the 1 flower! Is my tubers other subspecies? Visually, the tubers are absolutely identical. I also noticed that they are very different "smell". It is here possible to "beef or pork flowers"?:icon_lachtot:

Greetings Sookie

Each plant is so unique. The flowers look different. So it is for humans and;)
It is one and the same species.

In Konjac, I would say everything is Frost, tolerates it.

Now I still have a question: In the forum it says that the Stuttgart Wilhelma says: a sip of water in the calyx prevents the smell!? Is this an early April Fool's joke or what? This would be brilliant - then I could put the flower in the living room.
No April Fool's joke. The explanation was as follows:

The plant does not rely on bees for pollination, but on flies. That's why it has the color of old meat, smells of decay and - I didn't know until the Wilhelma visit - just like decaying meat, it produces heat. The piston is a few degrees warmer than the environment. However, such a plant has a rather limited heating power and with the water you cool the flask down to low-odor to -free temperatures.
Sounds obvious, but it doesn't work with Konjac. Because there the Spatha forms an open chalice in which no water remains.

However, I wonder whether this can be sustainable.

The piston is large - where is the heat produced? - you would have to look in the publications to see where infrared images are shown.

Then I don't know whether the titanum leaf is so tight that the water remains in the calyx or not, as with konjac, can drain off.

Questions upon questions....

Nevertheless: Happy growing, Bernhard.

And this is also the reason why this does not work with the lizard root despite a fully filled cauldron. The water is not where the flask produces the heat and fragrance.
