A.bulbifer - wie wärmebedürftig?

Hello

I cultivate A.bulbifer since this year. He stood outside in full sun this year. The tuber has grown and I suppose underground Cormels, stolons, etc. are not shown. Just seems to me that the bulblets on the sheet were not mature, because they were not really large and as the sheet is dried up and the bulblets removed, these are dried up quickly.

It may be that it would A.bulbifer like to slightly warmer, or are simply hard to store the bulblets of a medium-sized plant?

Greeting,

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Bulblets which are less than 1 cm, dry up ever; This has certainly nothing to do with the heat.
Bulblets must have a certain size and sure somehow "mature" be, so that they don't dry up during dry storage.

bulbifer comes from Northern and eastern India, but also in Bangladesh, Bhutan udn in Nepal, and is specified with USDA 6 and therefore quite kältevertäglich.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hi Bernard,

The largest one in the Middle had 1 cm, were much smaller on the "branches"...
But the bulblets were also more like disc (hard to describe) and not truly spherical, so I think that were still not properly ripe.

But underground bulbifer not multiplies so at all?
Cultivating your you out there?

Greeting,

Thomas

Hello

I think time has that to do with the size.
In the botanical gardens in Dresden, have already relatively large surface where bulbifer grows and what I have seen, in the tropical House
had only the largest plants Blattbulbillen tuned.
The largest were approximately 1, 50 m high, with the smaller, I haven't seen anything.

Also my which have formed not really...
Had ca. 6-7 tubers (6 cm), had also all flourished, but have become only 2 tubers.
The rest is driven out to late, and had made no more tubers.

This was also the only variety I had problems with the.

Greetings
Ronny

Hello

You should keep bulbifer, as well as other Amorphophallus species in full sun. In the summer over the midday, even something shaded, because the Sun for plants is too strong.

Ideally, it is partial shade, where plants get only in the morning or in the late afternoon for a few hours of direct sun. Otherwise indirect Sun.

And always adequately fertilize.
