Hi Sebastian,.

with that Tuber size can titanum flourish is certainly dependent on genotype.

I have heard that the critical size should be at 15 cm in diameter.
On the other hand indicates a weight of 8 kg to 9 kg.
The largest tuber from the mountain garden has no flower diameter and 3.9 kg with approx. 30 cm, but an impressive leaf developed:

This plant is probably one of the youngest and smallest, which have flourished ever:

The first titanum, which skin over has flourished in Europe, was a seedling in Kew Gardens, the 10 years from seed to the flower used has.

I think a titanum flower has always with good luck to do. The link of Bernhard I find very interesting, but I think it is not particularly often in that an A. produces a small flower titanum after three years. Some specimens only got the first flower with a weight of more than 30 kg.
In America there are already several individuals, which their A. titanum already to the blossom have. Recently, a seller has surfaced on eBay, which has sold even harvested titanum seeds and on whose images we have seen several flower or inflorescence.

Hallo Sebastian:
Einen Privaten in den USA weiß ich: ein Bill Weaver. Er hat die Pflanze im eigenen Gewächshaus großgezogen und dann zur Blüte in einem Botanischen Garten ausgestellt:

" .... 2005. University of California Botanical Garden/Berkeley/California/USA. 7/14/2005. Named "Trudy the Titan". Spadix grew to 5 feet, 5 inches high. Grown by Bill Weaver/California and displayed in UC Berkeley Botanical garden. Spathe grew to 42 inches in diameter. Pollinated with pollen from UC/davis/California.

" ... TRUDY? was lent to the UC Botanical Garden by a friend, Bill Weaver. We have ten of these plants raised from the same seed batch, but ours have not yet decided to bloom. However, this gives the Garden an opportunity to display the leaf form and bloom, as well as a young corm. The leaf of the plant to the right of the bloom started out looking exactly like the current bloom when it started to sprout several months ago. Until July 4 th both plants looked identical."

Hi Hermann,.

Thank you for the very interesting links!

Particularly exciting, I find the list of flowering events and the "historical" photos. I knew some of the pictures already, but in this composition, which is very impressive.
The site of the University of Wisconsin-Madison has managed very Ãœberhaupt...

The pages to Trudy and Bill Weaver are class. I think it's always impressive, in which relatively small pots tinanum cultivated and brought to the flower.

Thank you and "Good growing",
Bernhard.
