I have never experienced this differently before the shoot or with the only beginning shoot before planting. Rather, they sit even slightly deep in the substrate, instead of pushing the flowers over the surface on a stem.

Long stems are preferred when the heat drifts quickly (when driving in the apartment) and in low light, e.g. when stored in the basement.

With you, however, I have already seen pictures with flowers sitting close on the tuber. I haven't been able to do that yet.

Yes, that's right, e.g. here: Typhonium venosum in its original condition?
I think it is probably rather the lack of light that makes the flower stems long....

Happy blooming, Bernhard.

Hello
But this year you are quite back Bernhard. With mine now the 3rd sheet

By the way, these are daughter tubers of you. I always let them flower in the pot. I look nicer

Greetings from Thuringia

With me there are already third leaves and I am back this year, even more than last year.

Hello Sven,

beautiful leaves !

And yes, I was late this year with everything....
But with my two mother tubers (Indian Giant and 'nubicum'), who have bloomed in the basement, which I then removed, it looks +/- normal; they are just making the second leaf, although I have also potted them late.

The Heinzelmännchen have meanwhile also faded and drift leaves - they are just so late because they were in the refrigerator for a long time....

Happy growing, Bernhard.

The lizard roots slowly move in one after the other. The first two tubers have already been harvested. The later planting or expulsion seems to have little influence on the time of the move- Only the specimens planted in mid-July (were too bad for me to throw away) are still completely without signs.

During the night there was limited first frost damage at the shoots at the dahlias. At the sheltered place directly at or behind the barn it was just under 3 °C. The dahlias, however, are completely free and unprotected.

The night from Friday to Saturday was again mild frost. However, no additional damage has been caused.

On Saturday I harvested 19 more Indian Giants, 1640+13g, 111g, 101g, 2×21g, remaining small incubators unbalanced.

The large IG (80g->425g->1640g) has thus narrowly missed the quadruping of the weight this year. The two tubers with 21g were overlooked in the harvest last year and sat at the bottom of the pot and thus at least 30 cm deep.

Wow, not bad!

Hello mist beetles,

beautiful tubers !

With me the leaves of some IG also turn a little yellow, but I probably leave them all still alone until the first frost...

Happy growing, Bernhard.

These were also only those who were already ready to harvest (all from one pot, even the 2 previously harvested). The rest still needs a little. With the very large one, however, I do not expect a quadruple (that would be about 9 kg). I would also be at peace with everything over 3 kg.

... I test with envy... 3 kg.!!!

Well, from 2.3 to 3 kg is not much. I also expect more with 4-5 kg. Last year it was about 2.4 times (960 -> 2300 g). In a few weeks at the latest, I'll see what actually comes out of it.

Another IG has been harvested. She made it from 16 to 275 g. Even the very large one could actually be harvested, since now the last leaf is off. However, there are 5 more small ones in the pot, which are not quite so far yet. The IG with 275 g also comes from the pot.

Sonntag, 27. September 2020, 20:24

Harvested another 4 IG today (all from one pot 90l):
13 -> 180 g
16 -> 228 g
89 -> 680 g
73 -> 870 g
--------------
1958 g + 275 g of Thursday

Open is still the very large and another with a planting weight of 70-90 g. Will be harvested tomorrow together with the first normal.

256

Montag, 28. September 2020, 09:28

considerable!

So now all but one of the three plants have been harvested from the 90 l bucket overlooked last autumn.

91 -> 698 g
2300 -> 3385 g

In total, about 6.3 kg of tubers from the 90 l bucket.

What I noticed at the big IG:
  • 6 of the 7 brood tubers sat below the dent from the flower. There, however, I had broken out all the brood tubers and buds. But it still fits in with an observation on the tuber in spring: There was suddenly a new bud in the middle of a place of a broken brood tuber. Ditto with a scratched out bud.
  • The brood tubers were all rather flat and connected to the mother tuber over a large area, so that they are better cut off instead of breaking off or breaking out. With smaller tubers, I usually don't have anything like that.

Monday came a normal venosum with 1035 g (the first with more than 1 kg) from the earth and this morning 3 more IGs with 922 g, 1400 g and 1595 g. This means that everyone is harvested from this IG variant.

Hello dung beetles,

that's a remarkable harvest overall!

For me, more and more IG leaves are now turning yellow - I'm curious to see what has grown there; I will report on my two largest buckets in due time.

Happy harvesting, Bernhard.

Here a very large part already look out of the earth, whereby these are mostly only the flowers. At the largest IG (3.3 kg), the flower opened today. Outside, however, she was not the first. A smaller one with a malformed flower was faster.
