Hi Erwin,.

am although no professional, but I still write ' times what...

3 cm long roots listens to actually then, that she would like to grow lot.
If she then also does so and begins to rot, is sure of than from boundary conditions, especially temperature.

I made my 3 cm titanum bulb which so beautifully warm, auif of an aquarium cover in dry to moderately moist substrate, because of the beautiful weather in the winter garden, as she had some 2-3 cm long roots and eine2 cm long bud.
Now it has but cooled down since the last weekend and when I saw this afternoon after the Corm, 3 of the formerly completely healthy root had died.
I suspect that it was due to the "Bodeheizung lack in the winter garden". I would leave it better on the Aquarium cover.

This observation only as a suggestion....

Join in for a professional opinion Erwins desire...;-)

MfG,
Bernhard.

Also not an expert, but in my opinion after not casting, but from the start given infestation by pests is the the problem with the larger (import) paeonis.
At 3 cm roots I would keep the substrate in any case slightly moist. A set of casting is as bad. The problem is rather the tubers take also little moisture in the early stages before the complete roots up.
Best would be as an estimate of the weight of the pot. Or the good old finger trial also in deeper regions of the container.

Apart from all this, I have made the experience that a water absorption only begins with the appearance of a green sheet part. Previously roots are formed though, but what you record on water is Foxglove in-a-half. ;)

Hello Rooman,

Since you have obviously raised "the" point.

Where should to all of the water also, if there is no area of transpiration. So moderately moist...

Good growing
Bernhard.

MMH... I have used the A. paeoniifolius in completely dry substrate. How to read is now the tubers stop roots appear, which anchor the tuber in the ground. Then it will grow until the suction roots. I'm talking about always a, probably still not tuber is dried up but rather drowned was so in the figurative sense. After all other tubers are a flower without roots. Listen a little to how to whistle in the dark, I am even courage not too soon to pour.

@ Bernhard
When your observations the thought arises, that you kultivierst in glass pots :D .
I think we are all part of the pot Puhlern: p

So with no stopping and suction roots this is thing so ne. Quite a few and that fleshy roots are trained with the Amorphos anyway only the (in comparison to other Pflanzes), which perform both functions.
I think just the low Wurzelmasse and whose sensitivity require the sensitivity, that we need for the water.
Precisely for this reason, you can create no real "Gießleitfaden". This is simply that which distinguishes the lovers of the "plant users": the sensitivity and especially the many years of experience.
I think however that your Paeoni appreciate is moderate water gifts. :)
