Thanks for the tip.
Then I will let them once in the bed, I had planted them yesterday. Had she otherwise had throughout the years always in the pot at the window, would have never believed, that they in our cool North German weather outdoors grow.
The sebe is giganteum apply for Typhonium? I have also.
Greeting
Ernie
Hello Ernie
You mentioned Typhonium giganteum, have already started that what to do? They grow quickly?
Is there to report something?
I have planted 5 small tubers already in mid-February. The pots are still in the apartment and until today, more than three months later, one has pushed the top through the Earth's surface. I have to ask if the plants are large enough before the pots in the garden.

Hi oli,
No unfortunately still nothing, they are with me in the warm greenhouse, but it does nothing. But the Ty. Giganteum are known for their launigkeit, someone that they only had cast out with him in a year in August wrote in an English speaking Forum.

Ernie
I have the experience that they better grow much in the bed than in the pot. A plant is with me from sunny and has become huge, sure to 90 cm tall.
Here (protected city-centre location in Munich) have very many forgotten tubers of t. venosum hibernates in the open, adult and young tubers.
Let's see whether this also works in a harsher winter....
Greetings!
Michael
Hi Michael.
I guess the wetness as the cold will make winter rather very to create it.
At least, you should also cover it with straw and plane.Climate change will see the rest alone.

Hello
Two very interesting topics which as you may have.
I have not tried growing tubers in the bed to leave because I felt that they are attacked by worms etc (see a. tread: three times bad luck with Typhonium venosum). Because I want to harvest a large tuber I'll try that next summer. Tubers are indeed enough.
Also here in the South Finland tubers Hibernate out there! I grow in the Spitalacker now three small crops; two Indian giant and a normal. I have taken all tubers from the pots in the autumn 07 (I thought) and emptied the Earth to the field. Apparently, at least three small tubers were says that I have not seen it. I don't know how big the tubers are at the moment but the plants are 10... 15 cm high.
Either the tubers to tolerate more cold than you think or abnormally warm winter 07 / 08 has appeared since. I will let that fall in the field.

Hello Olvi,.
This is very impressive!
How are winter temperatures as in an abnormally warm winter in South Finland?
I imagine actually in South Finland, that it still freezes stone / bone...
Happy growing,
Bernhard.
Re: Typhonium venosum im Freiland übersommern?
Hello Bernard
So, the winter 07 / 08 I looked. For about 10 years I do weather diary and now
have I jokingly entered the values from 1.11.07 to 6.4.08 in Excel.
Snow was the beginning of March with us just a week and the ground was frozen never long.
This was the darkest winter I have ever encountered.
I almost think that the winter was severe in the Germany.

Re: Typhonium venosum im Freiland übersommern?
Hello Olvi,.
When you consider that the average bottom values as for Helsinki higher in January for Berlin with-3 ° C six degrees, the winter has been apparently really remarkably mild.
According to these reports will I this year of buddeln even some primary Cormels of my 'Indian giant' out there...
Happy freezing,
Bernhard.
Re: Typhonium venosum im Freiland übersommern?
I've sunk also rain-protected again two of primary Cormels the wall.
Now we just hope on a mild winter. : God:

Re: Typhonium venosum im Freiland übersommern?
Moin
I have made the experience (contrary to all others) that they are better grow in the large pot than in bed.
You that I planted in the bed have only a hand despite fertilization above. My pot tuber, however, you can see even the spitzchen for the third page. What Oh well worked was the pot with potting soil and the tuber in the bed half to dig.

Re: Typhonium venosum im Freiland übersommern?
Hi Luke,.
will you take the Earth from the garden or potting soil for the pot planting? Because the difference may be.

I am always good potting soil with broken Bläton.
My garden soil is too hard to me because it is very loamy.

Just this might be the reason, why they you planted not as good as in the pot.
However grow they also badly with me this year, is determined on the many rain.
