Paeoni Problem, brauche Tips

Hello together,

I have recently on eBay a lovely paeoniifoilius tuber risen. The tuber has about 1. 3 kg, shows a significant outgrowth and already 2-3cm long roots, Spitzen but are brown to the majority. This has bothered me not, I have purchased this tuber because the incipient emergence.

The tuber has been good for me and I used fresh it in high-quality potting soil out of the box, so slightly moist. Two days later I now made a "check excavation" and found that the roots further back "are abgefault". Tuber and sprout are fine. I have now taken the tuber of the substrate, sprayed with Euparen and used in pure minimal damp peat also I got to the bulb in a basin that I hot constantly to 27 ° C, to stimulate the root growth.
Possibly ists even better the bulb back from the substrate to take and dry to leave and new roots to wait for?

Can give tips anyone me as I put the bulb in "Swing".

About quick help, I would be grateful!

Re: Paeoni Problem, brauche Tips

Hi Michael,.

You may well do the bulb out to topfen and to wait for new roots.
But I am not sure whether this is the best.
If the root tips on arrival the Corm were Brown and dry, I would guess that the tuber earlier would have to be getopft. But I have no experience with such a large paeonifolius.
If, in addition to the roots rotting off (many) are healthy headed there, I would let probably potted and to put that "healing" and the rot in the tuber is over the "lazy" roots at the point.
A difficult case - maybe someone white Council, which has seen itself as something.

Is still a note on the peat as a "Temporary storage" - which I would be too pissed off, or is it on gekalkter peat?

Good luck, Bernhard.

Hi Michael, you can make sure that, but if you have stained the bulb with a fungicide, that's probably enough. This is also no guarantee to the effect that the tuber not reusable fault.
Good luck, Bernhard.

Re: Paeoni Problem, brauche Tips

Have you paeoni in culture?
Can you describe your conditions (under the growth phase) times?

Is a free range stay possible or even wise?

Many regards,

Re: Paeoni Problem, brauche Tips

Hi Michael,.

Yes, I have one paeonifolius, but in 2004 from seed moved (i-Baaa, provider tropical world).

Substrate: unit Earth (60% white peat, 40% clay)

Location: throughout the year in the winter garden; but in the resting phase out getopft

Fertilization: abundant; regularly a liquid fertilizer with an any fertilizer for plants and zusätlzlich the good grain of blue in between also....

Seems important to me, not too early to pot the tuber; only when the bud is a few cm high and are a few approaches to root to see.

To the field stay, I do not practice there also what to find here in the Forum.
The link no longer works:

maybe even use the Suchfuktion...

Happy growing, Bernhard.
