Meanwhile, a more warm bearing Konjac tuber (11 g) shows a swollen bud. I must give ° C cold storage room probably to the other in the 8-9.

Obviously, it is spring. Not only in the completely warm bearing Konjac tubers, but also obtained recently in the warm the buds swell regardless of size. Also it is confined not only to the konjacs, thats also ferruginosus observed bulbifer and ulcers. Mülleri I had potted 14 days ago and looks ready at least 5 cm from the ground.

Even with the cool the first signs of the swelling of the buds is at individual tubers (currently about 8 ° C) stored tubers. The large head of IG wants to collect.

It seems to sprout everywhere--spring arrives :-)

A large IG, which I had taken in January from the cellar and then forgotten in the winter garden, has flourished even before a week - then quickly found the tuber at the smell... and she is also like to just at temperatures outside... ;)

In the basement the buds are all also already well 10 cm tall.

My big konjac which is located in the winter garden has as well a 10-15 cm-big bud.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

With me, everything comes very slowly in the millimetre range. Only ferruginosus has flourished and is now glossophyllus to open a very small flower, which comes out but not from the Centre but sideways. The bulb was still getopft, because she had flourished last year and I waiting I leave it on a sheet in the substrate.

It takes even for me. A or other shows while growth approaches, but more like a few centimetres is still nowhere to be seen. And nowhere near enough flowers. Wait for. At some point, it must be spring... or equal to summer again.

a few pictures:

On appearance of the spadix, the same has still a somewhat variable coloring index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID 4870 = index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4871 the Sun fixes that. In about two days, the spadix gets its dark brown color.

A flower with double spathe has been opened in my index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4873 once more left or right: index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4872 so far I could count 17 left hand flowers and 15 clockwise. All flowers come from the same clone - including those with double Spatha.
I slightly underestimated the space needed by flowers:index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4874
Now I have to get something out. index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID 4875 = this is the large IG by Bernhard. I have observed last year that these two root wreaths has shown before it bloomed. Therefore I have planted them this year with the first movement of the bud. The two "teeth" in the Earth are root tips. The next picture shows Konjaks that were bashed in peat index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4876 the roots have simultaneously developed with the bud. The last picture shows that even Konjac fix it with the development of the Prime roots index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4877 -should the plants not already in the Earth?

Greeting

Hi Klaus,

Simple madness. The konjacs simply just brilliant look at friends.
Very nice, the sea of flowers.

Hello Klaus,

there I would commit to you - if the roots of some should be those in the earth; this actually shows that they can look for and absorb water and nutrients.
However, it remains tricky to ensure that the substrate is not kept too wet and that the temperatures are not too low; I would be concerned about the fact that there will be rot in the combination.
The plants would then also have a slight growth advantage over those that bloom dry despite root development.

You might have to try out with a few equally sized specimens. - I think we know someone who would have enough tubers for such a comparison... ;)

Maybe I'll get up and do it with a few Indian Giants. The problem is certain, however, that the unstuffed tubers then get any late frosts directly; such a comparison would then have to be made in a frost-free greenhouse.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

That can be interesting...

Last summer I made an almost similar attempt with three large IG bulbs. To protect against night frost in May, I had built a simple foil house with three walls. In the foil house there was room for an IG plant. The plant had a clear growth advantage over the two IGs who had to wait before they came into the earth. All three have flourished; one in the foil house, the other two had to bloom dry.

The tuber from the foil house had a weight gain of 160% in the autumn.
The other two 60% and 170%. The fact that the tuber from the foil house had only increased 160% was a disappointment. The hot summer has made the temperature in the plastic foil house too high. This was probably the reason why the tuber did not get bigger.

The problem with the different temperatures will not exist in your greenhouse. I type that the plant has the roots and only comes into the earth becomes much larger.

Hello Olvi,

since I expressed myself (unfortunately) misunderstood.... and it is a little like to The Lord Angelo:

- I don't have a greenhouse... :-(

My large konjac, which is located in the conservatory also has a 10 - 15 cm large bud.
How far has it come?

Hello dung beetles,

this is what it looks like: index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=4882 index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=4883 index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=4884

I didn't take any measurements last year (and also this year) in the course of development, so I can't say whether the flowering will still stretch or higher.
At the moment it is only 90 cm high, which almost disappoints me a little; I have the impression that it was bigger last year before the piston became visible.

Happy blooming, Bernhard.

This morning the flower started to open...

But the fragrance is still quite subtle... ;)

Happy blooming, Bernhard.
