In Basel what is happening!
The first Titan to flower!

Thanks for the link!

To the smell of I go 350 km to Bonn (so far) but always, if possible. You should continue still 100 km and whether is it worth 30-min tour for one, you have to decide. In Bonn you can stay longer in the greenhouse. The sight and scent definitely is very impressive.

It is very interesting in the Basel tuber that the tuber in May 2009 8 kg has weighed and then within from 15 months to 24.8 kg has risen.
The mountain Garden in Hanover has two plants, whose Knollen brought 7,8 and 7.15 kg on the scales in April 2010 with a diameter of approximately 30 cm at the recent repot.

They did however not a 5 m high hand, but are approximately 1 / 2 times the size.
It will be exciting this summer when the plants are pulled up and can be weighed.

In the newspaper has been reported already upon them. It was even on the radio.

Hi Ralf,.
the bloom is on the beeindruckensten on the first evening of the flower; If you are able to get a firm date for the 30-min tours, then tried a 21: 00 / 22: 00 h to get; then, the flower is fully open.
Or the next day before 9: 00 am, then, after they shoot itself and is almost closed at midday. It will also not more as far as the first night of the flower open on the second day.

the smell was only moderate, to take but in the entire greenhouse complex, have, had the olfactory peak at two o'clock in the morning at the same time with the highest piston temperature of around 36 ° C.
I would have expected that it smells worse. ;-)

I was expecting something much worse in Bonn first. The impression is qualified but a little on the next morning, as I have gained at the T-Shirt from the visit.
This dull, heavy, penetrating everything and very difficult to descriptive odor was still incredibly strong on the day after the visit.
Who has always the opportunity to visit a flower, Miss that in no way!

Yes, the mirror trick for the baseler Platz is a touch of brilliance...

When "our" first blooms in Hanover ( Amorphophallus titanum in the Hill Garden, Hanover ), I'll recommend the Spiegetrick of the direction of the mountain garden...

Hello together

I've got just an email that you will dig in Basel after 15 months of leaf vegetation on 3 July the tuber and then by the 4-6.July in the bot. Garden visit can. The tuber weighed what will probably weigh it after 15 months with a 12 m2 canopy at the last repotting 28 kg?

Add to that Marvel will be again a flower from September. I'm looking forward and certainly will not miss that.
