Hi I have Arum's friends, this plant as Arum dioscoridis var. dioscoridis acquired. It is planted in my garden.

First a picture of 28 February this year, after a short period of frost-9 ° c, the leaves lay flat through the frost on the ground, as short time was later somewhat warmer, they have focused on again, as if nothing had happened.

index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4495
End of may the bloom came then:
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4496 index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4497
Unfortunately, I had a few gluttonous snails in the corner, which have from rasped the beautiful velvet covering of the flower really:
index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4498 index.php? page = attachment & attachmentID = 4499
At the time, the plant drives again.
I've even Arum dioscoridis var. syriacum, which has but yet not flowered, drives now but also vigorously. When it blooms, I show it here, too.
Love greetings,
ADA

Arum dioscoridis var. dioscoridis

Dear Arum friends,

here is an update to my Arum dioscoridis var. dioscoridis, what he did this year.

In mid-May I saw that this year he makes particularly large and strong leaves.
At the beginning of June he showed 9 buds, which I found phenomenal. And then came the flowers in mid-June, all big and strong.
These are the pictures in the order, the last one shows the decay, but also I find that beautiful, I like the morbidity of the withering flowers, and how the colors change in the process.

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5178index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5179index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5180index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5181index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5182index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5183index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5184index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5186

Of course, I thought about how it would come about, that he is showing himself so strongly this year. Is it simply because he has settled in at his location?
Or: after last year's snail-eating (see above), I scattered a Ferramol snail grain containing iron III phosphate. As you know, this snail grain is biodegradable and acts as a fertilizer in the soil - can it be natural that the Arum lacked exactly this element in our garden soil?

Anyway, the flowers were great,

Greetings,
Ada

Hello Ada,

Congratulations - it has developed magnificently!

A little Fe and P more certainly does not hurt... ;-)
But in the pictures from the previous year you can see neither Fe- nor P-mangelsmptome.

But it's nice that the snails haven't struck back.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Arum dioscoridis,
who has bloomed so richly this year, is now showing fruit for the first time:

index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=5412

The stems with the fruits are quite high, you don't see that here, because of the annoying arable winds that have risen on it . . . . but i haven't got through to this corner yet, but we've had time. :D

As always, I don't do anything with the seeds, so if any of you are interested, I'll gladly give them away.

Greetings,
Ada

Hello Ada,

in September the plant still had leaves and the fruit stand... (Your picture above...)
Is it actually completely confiscated at all or is it +/- evergreen with you?

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hello Bernhard,

yet, it has moved in, soon after flowering. In the photo in September, only the stem with the fruit stand belongs to the Arum dioscoridis, the leaves on it are from the arable winds, which rises everywhere.
Now I had come to make something free, I also cut back the king's fern - it's too tight anyway, it gets very big, it gets a new freer place soon, is then also more beautiful - and the Arum then has more light in late summer. :-D

Greetings,
Ada

Hello dear Arum friends,

my Arum dioscoridis var. dioscoridis has bloomed again magnificently in 2020, as in 2019:
index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6478

I'm now using the picture for comparison, because I had another great Arum experience in 2020:
Arum dioscoridis var. syriacum, which I had been waiting for for a long time, has finally blossomed, both in the pot and in the open, where it had been planted for many years:
index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6479index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6480index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6481index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6482index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=6483index.php?

By the way, these are two different clones from two different sources - one is the Spadix beige-pink, the other dark black-blue. I still have to find out which one is the real one, or if there are both variants (I'm still waiting for the post with my Arum book). :icon_confused:

Greetings,
Ada

Hello Ada,

which book are you waiting for?

For both of your forms you will find at least pictures at providers that come quite close to yours:

Happy growing, Bernhard.

Hello Ada,

oh yes, you mentioned that in the other topic....

For interest, just googled - to get at Hugendubel for 35,99 €
https://www.hugendubel.de/de/buch_gebund... al-rewrite=true

or used at amazon for 449 €
https://www.amazon.de/Genus-Arum-Kew-Mag... h/dp/0112500854

or at buecher.de for €30.99
https://www.buecher.de/shop/englische-bu... od_id/32609636/

or even more expensive:
https://www.abebooks.de/9780112500858/Ge...-0112500854/plp

.... somewhat irritating....

Happy reading, Bernhard.

Yes, I tried to order it. 90€ second hand was too much of a good thing for me.
