at rareplants again after looking "Amorphophallus is one of the few species that is apomictically henryi, i.e. she can form viable seed without pollination."
Now the second flower has gone on, here you can see well that the white spots on the flowers are, moreover, the spathe has a fine white edge. I have fertilized it with the first flower pollen; even if it is apomictically, I think what is yet to see on the first flower, that a reproduction is so "healthier". Michael
Hello Excellent flower, I am curious how many seeds are there. How old was the plant because as she that has flourished for the first time? Best regards Matthias
Hi Matthew, both are the first flowers of the seeds, which can be seen at the beginning of this thread. The tubers are so 5 years old. I hope few Thickenings in the second pollinated are formed when the flower is pollinated not by me on a nice blue fruit stand. Love greetings Michael
Hello How do you think the maturing seed pods? Do you need lighting? Do you completely dry or slightly damp tubers? When can you remove the upper spadix? Thank you Michael
Hello I demand again, as you hold your fruit bunches? Need as much light as the leaves the seeds to the mature or less is enough? A place in the Sun is scarce for me unfortunately... Thank you Michael
me missing since the experience, but I would not cut off the upper part of the spadix, it is because he is completely dry. Further I would keep the pot slightly moist; Weak light probably dates...
Hi Bernard,. Thanks for the quick reply, the spadix is already dry, the fruits start to swell. Then I not put it time at the window, because everything else needs just the light. Love greetings Michael
will the tuber drive but quite normal? It will be a Yes now not the growth because it produces seeds. Have I seen some pictures where stands the seed level in addition to the journal, I go time of it that's going to happen here just so or am I wrong here?
Hello Ronny,. I think that this is the case only in some species; Yes sometimes flowers with leaves are at the same time. When my henryi's currently still doesn't look, I don't know where the blade should exorcise because just as thick as the petiole is the stalk of the seed pods. If it should be different I let. Love greetings Michael
I've dusted already konjaks yourself – I'm quite normal in the glass House are in full light - and not cast. At least with the konjac wars so that he so long hasn't grown until the seeds were mature - IE - has to grow started very late (July or something) and the bulb was then logical way only equal to the whole scenario.
I would not so long makes no hand pour the guy (or only very minimal moisture keep) - because how should he absorb water without roots. and give my 2nd tip - more light - I assume that the seeds to develop if they have normal conditions (would be better so my gut feeling about that)...
And I'd let the seed stand alone – remove anything or so - the upper part will themselves fall off if so far is
So, now I can finally present the result you: Two henryi's have flowered A., where I've dusted one with the other, the second flower has fertilized themselves. The first photo shows the apomiktische fertilization, not all flowers have been caught, the other pictures shows the fruit stand that has been fertilized seed. The blue berries have long held, but already butt. Michael
Here I'll show you yet the seeds. Usually two seeds were included, the vegetative resulting in the generative increased berries usually only one. This is evident too in the form, which are elongated, the other slightly rounder. Love greetings Michael
Hello Here is a quick Addendum: The parents tubers look like. Tuber 1 has been still a leaf after anthesis and was therefore cast. The leaf came from a page eye, has formed a small extra bulb. The main tuber was thus probably too moist and is from the bottom up "eaten"; the large sore is healed but good and dry (Photo 2). It has grown from 413 g. on 164 g + 32 g (new tuber) reduced. Tuber 2 has been reduced by 200 g aug 111 g. She had no hand and was therefore transplanted but kept bone-dry. It does seem that the fruits of the tuber is incomparably more shrink let as the flower.
Finally in the last photo of the firstborn of the next generation. Let this time some more time, it may be because I put it without big drum to take care of simple in Earth.
now again a year later a brief update of the germinated seeds: Meanwhile, 100% gone. I'll show you same pot, which can be see in the last photo of the last post. The only drive that shot last year, is the big with already a further sheet, the small have gone up this year for the first time. 5 seeds were in the pot, which got no further maintenance except for water, some fertilizer and light. A. henryi is really a robust, easy-to persistent way.
Because I got so many seeds the man your experiences and successes with my seeds would interest me.
I have received from friends also seeds of A. henryi. You have put me on a long ordeal. You are now just recently sprouted. It took about a year for germination. However, the germination rate was 100% then it smooth! I didn't think that after such a long time.
You have arrived plants now at approximately 10 cm height. Am curious as it goes on.
that tallies completely with my observations. Possibly henryi seeds have a mechanism to delay the germ; Theresa has to start the thread similar reports. That my first seeds germinated faster some time ago may have anxious also, I only bought it later in the year.
