Kreuzen

Hello
I'm new here in the Forum and my question is whether you can cross two Amorphophallus species with each other?

Re: Kreuzen

Hi,.

According to the info on the aroid page longituberosus x albispathus were only A. and A. odoratus x yunnanensis successfully crossed. And so it looks like lord Titanum has also a thaiensis x putii.

Greeting
Theresa

Re: Kreuzen

Hello Lei,.

Cross can be, but it comes pretty quickly on the hit list by Lord P. -LOL

But seriously:
Problematic is the fact that the crosses should be well documented and the hybrids between species for those marked should be continued, so that they are mixed with the real species (wild type).

Desirable for collectors and taxonomists is sure that the species will receive pure.

Unfortunately enough tubers under wrong species names are on the way - not only the infaltionären titanum at i-bäh, all in a whimsical way suddenly making sure as konjac Cormels (what now times unfortunately not doing the kind) and is then at the flower or similar will turn out.

If even hybrids between species are added, the hash is then complete....

The hybrids between species mentioned by Theresa made in botanical gardens and have never left them.
The lord titanum now hybrids between species überr i-bäh offers I find personally not very happy, but at least he does it with the correct name. Where right means that thaiensis the MOM and putii is the Papa...

(un)Happy crossing,
Bernhard.

It succeeded a friend recently to cruise A.muelleri with A. hirsutus.

It should work eigendlicht with all Amorphophallus species. Now, I don't know to what extent the mistaken as plays a role.

Yes Bernhard has stated sufficient the rest.

But who is Lord P because please?????

Hi Stephan,.

Lord p. is the pseudonym for Wilbert Hetterscheid.

http://translate.Google.de/translate?HL=…rt_Hetterscheid
or in the original: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilbert_Hetterscheid

The name was probably invented in the aroid L ( http://www.aroid.org/aroidl-archive/about.php , http://www.aroid.org/aroidl-archive/ , http://www.hort.net/lists/aroid-l/ ) or him sealed in, or himself first used even by him.

As the world's leading taxonomist for the genus of Amorphophallus the pseudonym Lord was his phallus close. A name in the aroid-L, in which many Americans were registered and are also more frequently (Puritan) indignation aroused.
As Wilbert was but absolutely not humor free and not only Puritan aroider, but more outrage has used many British humour in the aroid L wrote, obviously not much and the acronym Lord p. was (initially) most commonly used.

In the course of time the name was transformed also often depending on occasion:

Lord P.(hallus)
Lord P.(halloid)
Lord P.(rofound)
Lord P.(hantom) of all Amorphophallus
Lord. P.(ositive)
Lord P.(erspicacious)
Lord high Phallid
Lord P.(lanttaxonomist)
Lord P (hylocode apprentice-oid)
Lord P(seudodracontiumneedstogo.com)
Lord P.(erish)
Lord P.(recise)
Lord P (hoto size)
Lord P.(lant-pathogen-diagnostic-service)
Lord P (ainfully out of linearis)
Lord p.(iggy?)
Lord P (ast recover)
Lord P(rankster)
Lord P (retty surprised)
Lord P(reservation)
Lord P(remature)
Lord P(icky)
Lord P (ardon me)
Lord P.(ound)
Lord P (rotector of the purity of Amorphophallus morphology)
Lord P(rotector)
Lord P (erfectly correct)
Lord P.(erceive)
Lord P(anicking)
Lord P(hytochemist)
Lord P(antagruelique)
Wilbert "Gargantuan" Hetterscheid, aka Lord P.
Wilbert's opinion as Lord high Chamberlain of Coltonomy
Lord P.(eat)
Lord P(icture)
Lord P(ropagator)
Lord P(ublication)
Lord P(ineapple)
Lord P (hreaqued out)
Lord P(achyderm)
Lord p(aprika)
Lord P(ound)
Lord P(icogram)
Lord P.(ure-metric)
Lord phallus (AKA ' king Dick)
Lord "pure bred"
Lord of Phalloids
Lord P(haultering)
Lord P(estered)
Lord P(ecunia)
Lord Phallulphides
Lord P(hrustrated)

Lord p. (rotector of the metric system)
Lord P(inch)
Lord (de)P(ressed)
Lord pee pee
Lord P(ycnospatha?)
Lord P (reservation of original genotypes)

And then there was also a poet in the aroid l:

There what the one known as "Lord P"
Amorphophallus suited him to a "T"
Whether konjac, stipitatus
Titanum, or lunatus
On expert, we all would agree.

The last variant of the name has in its Wilbert Hetterscheid helped him doing himself:

Lord Phalless

This name had the quite bitter taste in the mouth, that the University of Wageningen, decided in July 2009 to close the Botanical Garden and to lay off any workers, making Wilbert Hetterscheid (amopho) phalless in the truest sense of the word.

He has assumed the leadership of Gimborn Arboretum afterwards.

Happy growing, Bernhard.

P.S.: as the specialist for and keeper of the genus Amorphophallus he has kept of course none of this, that people only of hybrids between species have thought. He was always more anxious the die(Wild-) keep types in. He has expressed that on occasion then in clear words.
