Hello

normal way to plant the tubers in autumn in the garden where they will also immediately start with the formation of the roots for next season.
The shoots appear from March-April.

Who has the opportunity to plant it out should make it.What happened with you right, that makes the roots for next year, but if are then to warm the cast out in the winter, free planted does not happen to you.

I have initially also not really dared to plant out, but now you are in the 2 year now and it works fine. This year I had thick plants 1, 5 m high and stems by underarm.

Love greetings
Ronny

Hello

I could slap me :icon_explode:

My D. vulgaris has already driven a leaf in autumn, then keep the winter herumgemickert, and the sheet. A few weeks ago, it has begun to collect the sheet. It was wilted and turned then sideways.
Today I pulled it, and the blade separated from the tuber. After that, I saw look an approx. 3 mm thin, white something from Earth. The sheet was exactly at the point where previously. Because I did not know what is it I got a hit in my impatience because until I had it in hand. It was a tiny flower emerging :icon_shocked:

Now, I've dug out the tuber. A second white tip, as well as several root tips are located on the top. The tuber I've potted again and hope that at some point but still a flower shows, or the plant starts at least once through their leaves...

Anything else to the flower that I've ripped off: she looked strangely like a miniature version of the finished flower, only in white. You think that that would soon come to the fore was the a current boom or rather that occurred months ago and then "stuck"?

Greetings
Alex

Hello Ronny,.

I'm sure that was a flower. It looked like a white only proportionally very slim and complete five to seven centimeters high (incl. peduncle) and 3 mm wide finished flowering. The involucral bract was fully wrapped around the piston. Only when I had unwrapped the piston, I realized what I there held in the hand. Therefore I assume rather that this was no ordinary flower emerging, but one that why also always not share has grown, evolved but morphologically practically finished. It is probably located within the hollow stalk of the leaf. Unfortunately I did not keep them, otherwise I would add an image.

I have only a few years Araceaen, but I deal since my youth with plants and know a flower when I see one.

Greetings
Alex

For us, our first Dracunculus ever has gone up finally. It is approx. 20 m tall and is always out there in winter.
She is really overwhelmingly beautiful and draws the eye (in the garden). The smell keeps here against our expectations in borders, from the note as A.konjac and in favourable winds far to smell approx. 3 m.

Because I must go along with Bernhard, makes the plant a beautiful Blattrieb every year with me and dropping 2-3 again him weeks after he is fully entwcikelt. Does anyone have an idea what this could be? The plant is sitting with me in the pot, not as so often in the bed. Could a factor be?

Many greetings,
Dominik

I'm guessing that that have no long Wachtumszeit, at a plant that is annoying, with me in the garden they have multiplied quite well, because it is not as striking, but grad the small without flowers fall down very quickly. even when the large end is after flowering, usually they are dropped even before even the seed is mature. (the stalk, the leaves are already). I must bind them also most of the time together because many just fall over.

Planting will be the better method to optimally maintain the plants, they grow very quickly in good conditions and reproducing well.
3 years ago I had one excavated tubers to plant them out somewhere else, last year drew has nothing a mini plant grown by 20 cm and that made this 3 strong branches with 2 flowers, I don't know how the plant.

We do it as mrChiquita, the bulb remains throughout the year in the ground and receives no special care. You drive out usually February, but with us in Bochum, we have no more Frost then most of the time anyway, and also the shoots put down a couple of minus degrees.
The Dracunculus is in full sunlight in well drained soil, but we fertilize it lightly (it comes from rather barren areas)

What kind of planting distance to the living area in the garden do you recommend and how long does the plant stink?
I'm planning right now and don't want to bother the family while eating cake outside.

Hello Botanicus,

I would take into account the main wind direction - and when the wind blows from the coffee table to the root, everything is fine... ;-)

When there is no wind? So my Sauromatum horsfieldii and S. giganteum can certainly be smelled at a distance of 5 m; with my Dracunculus I have not yet paid so much attention to it.

Happy growing, Bernhard.
