Ernte 2007

Hello

last year I planted Dracunculus vulgaris for the first time. These are the results.
The tubers are the first photo in 2006, the second is the flower in 2007 and the last is the harvest of 2007.

Re: Ernte 2007

Hi Christian,

When planting out you again?
Or you're doing them, like me last year, in pots, to plant them in the spring?

Hello

Last year I've planted them in October in the bed. This year I will plant them in October in pond baskets
and then plant out the spring with the baskets.
This year I have planted my Typhonium Venosum in pond baskets. So, to grow the roots in the Earth and are still easy to harvest.

Not bad either, in any case worth a consideration.

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

I've got seeds on Saturday.:icon_seb_zunge: :icon_seb_zunge:
In February they are sunk and let's see how many of them germinate. : icon_biggrin:

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hi Bernhard.
I keep it dry at the moment and had to make before they starting in April in the great outdoors.
I am of course grateful for other tips, because I have still more Dracunculus not from seed. : no:

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello

mine are gekaimt, they were cool.
They must be kept always nicely moist, otherwise they do not germinate.

I made even a few in the fridge, where they are also germinated.

With kind regards
Stefan

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hi Volker,.

This just spontaneously I have noticed a much Araceensamen are long germinable and is often recommended to sow immediately after harvest.
Maybe Dranunculus is also an exception, seed must be allowed to dry....

MfG,
Bernhard.

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Thanks to Bernhard and Stefan.
Have sunk it then but still in the shell of the seed. Then, you must be by halt now through the dark season before spring, absolutely nothing more is germinable. ;-)

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello

Dracunculus remain long germinable.
I had times seeds, which are not germinated, then I have kept very dry them - for a long time.
Then I found it cool and now they germinate.

In nature are the seeds ripe in autumn and only germinate in spring - while many tropical Aronstäbe can germinate year round.

The seedlings are pretty - they do not look quite unr after Dracunculus.

With kind regards
Stefan

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

My Dracunculus canariensis seeds rest in the refrigerator. type also no Mucks by itself.I have sunk it in the 15.02. and cool
The Knolen of D. vulgaris are sunk and also cool.
The tuber fiber spreading.
Am not sure whether I even should pour on the outdoor sleeping or whether the gänzlcih must be dry. The Earth was indeed at the pot something wet, but only very slightly, I hope they do that.
Am still relatively uncertain.:icon_blush_ORG:

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello!

I am currently most think about how I put my D. vulgaris tubers over winter... and I am not now so really smart from this thread. Has anyone collected now further experience in the field of pot culture?

Due to my indecision, it was my plan to try simply different conditions of sell. One is already since the summer outside on the balcony, one in the basement of (frost-free, but rather sinister), one in the attic (not so gloomy for it but also not sure frost-free) and one is sunk as a "Backup" quite deep in the garden. I have excluded rather warmer conditions due to the here described experiences...

Today I discovered now grad, that the first tip now rises from the Earth (tuber is about 15 cm deep in the pot,) where I would have expected later to what now arise the question allows in me, whether the cold balcony as well as the dark basement at all have views of success...?

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello

I have stored my hand pretty cool and without substrate and on the other hand also tested whether they are really here winter hardy. After this winter with loosely - 20 degrees have it with me the test passed.
I had planted the tuber approx. 25 cm deep in the fall, yesterday I discovered then the approx. 5 cm high bud.
I am now still very excited that this worked!

Also the one or the other bulb turns on slow growth.

All the best

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hello

I now also once again reports from my experience:

The large tuber, which I have planted in early 2007 after dry and cold Ãœberwinterung, wanted to not grow despite well developed outgrowth. She was probably in the middle of summer so stuck as it was and died.

In September last year I got again a tuber which I planted immediately due to visible outgrowth in moist Amorphophallus Earth. Have set up the pot in a very cold, but virtually frost-free place in the greenhouse. And behold: she began immediately with the formation of root, from December, the outgrowth on the surface of the Earth was already knowing! Have she kept still slightly damp, the bud is now about 30 cm high and is the first sheet.

Conclusion: A dry Ãœberwinterung not like D. vulgaris at all, since the rest rather seems to be in late summer. Rather, the cold winter is used to the roots a strong cast out in the spring and bloom. Very cold winter temperatures are thus important to prevent the leaves unfold already in midwinter.

The same behavior is also very typical for the most spring-flowering bulbs, always in autumn plant otherwise this is nothing.

Re: Pflege von Dracunculus vulgaris

Hi Bernard,.

the bulb was about 5-6 cm in diameter. Will not to buddeln but in the autumn, which has become out of it, so that I do not hurt the tuber, would be a pity drum.

Is also sometimes quite handy when what winters out there, for the winter quarters inside remains more than enough left over (for me anyway).

If what things to do, I try then the images here in to crafting.

Greeting,

exotica
